Hello everyone! Finally a little time to stop and play. I was checking out Makeesha’s blog … and noticed she had a new colour challenge posted. Yay! Time to play! Even though Keesh commented “ARRRGGG……is that what I hear? ” about this colour combo … I actually liked it as soon as I saw it! And … with today being the last day for last year’s in-colours … it was nice to use some Purely Pomegranate card just once more!

I am hanging out for tomorrow when I can put an order in from the new catalogue and get a couple of the sets I already have on my wish list! And … I promise I will pull out some of my other sets that I haven’t used for a while … BUT … I had the idea in my head to do some “poppin’ pastels” on the “Fresh Cuts” background stamp … and really wanted to try it with these colours. So … here again is my latest FAV set!

You can see the main image is multi-coloured. I stamped this image with Versamark Ink & then “bounced” some pastel colours (chalks) over the image. I used Pumpkin Pie, Regal Rose & to “simulate” the Purely Pomegranate I used some Rose Red and dusted a little Elegant Eggplant over the top to create more of a deep Purely Pomegranate colour. I think it worked quite well! Sometimes it is just a case of experimenting a little … and often you can copy an in-colour even though you don’t have the exact pastel or marker.

I have also stamped the other images from this set with ink & cut around to create a little “garden” in the bottom corner … and added some more “stamped off” images in the top left corner. I am really loving this set!!! To finish off I glued a little of the “Chunky Sprinkles” onto the centre of each of the cut flowers just to give it a little “dazzle”.  This card looks really pretty in “real life” … and I love the colour combo, Keesh! Thanks for the inspiration!

I have another great idea to show you … just have to make it work first!

Yummies & Cattys - all ready!!!

So … just wanted to let you know what a fun time we had at my Catalogue Launch on Saturday. It really was a great time of giggles & stamping & drooling! One of the girls brought her boyfriend! Yes! He was the first male I had ever had at a workshop … and I was VERY IMPRESSED how interested he was! And… before you start thinking “nerd/dork” … I can assure you he WAS NOT!!! He was even showing his girlfriend how to do some of the stamping! My Skye was very amused by his enthusiasm … and wondered if her boyfriend would do the same? (He lives in Q’ld … so I think he is safe at the moment!)

Anyway, we played some great games … “The Price is Right” was a great one for everyone to participate in … and also get to see some BRAND NEW PRODUCTS! It was a hoot! We also did “Family Feud” … again … lots of fun! We made a cute peek-a-boo treat card & did some watercolouring with the new “Window Dressing” hostess set! There were heaps of prizes & giveaways … and opportunities to win stamp sets & new products! I also had a “bargain corner” with papers & markers & retired stamp sets for sale at FAB discounts. I still have a few left … so as soon as I get a chance … I will add a PAGE with the products that are still available for anyone who would like to take advantage of these great specials!

Fresh Cuts Stamp Set

Oh dear! I got all excited about this sketch when I saw it on Keesh’s blog … and thought … yes … must play! And … now I have finished it … I went to submit only to find … ONCE AGAIN … I am too late!!! I really do need to get my act into gear. I think it is the way my week is structured. I have commitments at the beginning of the week … so by the end when I am finally finding some time to play … all the challenges are finished!!! Here is my sample. And … you can see I have used the “Fresh Cuts” stamp set again! Yes … I am really taken with this set at the moment!

I have used some “Summer Picnic” (ret) DSP … and although it is not in the “in colours” to match the cardstock … the dots are small enough that I think it actually coordinates really well. I am so hanging out to buy some NEW in colour ribbon. The “river rock” ribbon just doesn’t cut it … but I had to be satisfied because the Always Artichoke was toooo dark and Certainly Celery was too pastel!

So the colours I have used are Riding Hood Red & Tangerine Tango with a hint of Kiwi Kiss. The more I play with these new colours … the more I like them! I love this combo!

So … Gav is away tonight … and the older kids are all at youth group … so will probably snuggle in bed with my Friday buddy (Sandy) and watch a DVD. Will try to get back tomorrow with some photos of my launch … if I remember to take some!

Occasional Greetings, Priceless

Hi everyone! Just a quick post … I still have a few things to do for my catty launch. I just wanted to take a moment to share a card that I made almost a year ago. (Way before I started blogging!) I know that I CASED the design from somewhere but it is so long ago now … that I can’t remember from where??? I am happy to acknowledge if this is YOUR design??? So … this is my farewell tribute to the old In Colours … Purely Pomegranate, Groovy Guava & Soft Sky. I absolutely LOVE these colours … and will really miss using them. I am VERY thankful that my favourite “Priceless” stamp set is still in the new catty. I just LURVE this set!

Card Recipe:

• Cardstock: Soft Sky – A5 (14.8x21cm), Groovy Guava – 13.8×9.5cm, Purely Pomegranate – 13.8x5cm, Very Vanilla scraps for stamping and punching
• Inks: Purely Pomegranate, Soft Sky, Groovy Guava
• Extras: Scallop Circle Punch, Snips, Dazzling Diamonds – 2 way glue pen, Mini glue dots, Snail adhesive

And here is the same design … different colours & the phrase stamp is from “Occasional Greetings”.  Colours used: Pretty in Pink, Old Olive, Elegant Eggplant.

Do you like this BRAND NEW “Fresh Cuts” stamp set?? It was one that was available for pre-order (& demo’s got an EXTRA discount) … and I hhhmmed … and aaahhed … and decided not to get it. Wasn’t too sure about it. But … I am beginning to decide that I really don’t have a clue when it comes to stamp set choices. Because I saw this demo-ed on Ness’ blog … and just fell in love with it! So … here’s an idea … always look twice at that stamp set that you’re not too sure about to start with.

Here is Ness’ lovely card … and I had to try the masking that she showed us on this stunning card! So … it is similar to my bag … except I added a little “Not Quite Navy”. The other two colours I used were Kiwi Kiss & Summer Sun. Like Ness, I am not a yellow fan … but I now have a new favourite colour combo … I think they are just gorgeous together … and will be using this combo again!

I’m sorry … but I have to fly … Sheree is waiting to use my computer for a uni assignment.

Baroque Motifs, Echoes of Kindness Stamp Set, Sanded, Weathered

Hello everyone!

Yesterday was a lovely day! Yes … I was still hobbling … and my leg was still painful … but I had a lovely distraction for a few hours. I finally got to meet my “gg” … (great grandma upline) Leonie. She & my direct upline, Ness came to visit! Leonie & I have talked online several times & visit each other’s blogs regularly but it was lovely to finally meet! We had a lovely time chatting & sharing samples & drooling over the new catty. We talked about the upcoming SU! convention in Canberra … and how much fun that is going to be. I was very touched that even though I wasn’t able to move around … they brought lunch … and yummy banana bread … and so kindly looked after me! This is one of the amazing benefits about joining SU! You get to meet some lovely people and have the opportunity to make some new, very special & very caring friends!

Leonie's Echoes of Kindness

Isn’t this card just delicious! Leonie made this for me! I love the way she has teamed three of the new In Colours (Pacific Point, Baja Breeze & Kiwi Kiss) with Chocolate Chip … and I think it is just gorgeous! She has also used one of the BRAND NEW Level 2 hostess sets from the new catalogue. Isn’t it such a pretty stamp … and such a lovely phrase! The flower has been softly watercoloured using an aqua painter & ink from the stamp pads. I also love the way Leonie has teamed 3 background stamps on this card … She has used the Baroque Motifs swirl over the choc chip … and the Weathered background stamp on the Kiwi Kiss strip & the Sanded background on the Baja Breeze strip. This adds so much depth & interest to the card.

I am very spoilt, don’t you think? And … very thankful to have such lovely friends! Thanks, Leonie & Ness for coming to visit! Can’t wait until Canberra!!!

Hi to all my friends!

This project is one that I have had sitting in my pics file for months! I kept meaning to show you … but somehow it never made it here! I have since given this to my gorgeous no.1 daughter with a “Portmans” voucher … so she could have a shopping spree after she graduated. She needed some “legal” clothes … and Portmans have such classic but trendy clothes. She was thrilled!

But … enough rabbitting … This gift card (or voucher) holder is made from 3 SU! vanilla envelopes stuck together to form a tri fold card. I found this idea for this project many months ago at a SUPER site ->ustamp4fun. Amy has the most amazing gift ideas … and now I have been back to get the link it has just reminded me that I need to spend some time looking for some new ideas from her site! She has heaps of inspirational ideas!

Trifold gift envelope - inside view

So I have made my sample fairly close in design to Amy’s. I was only new to SU! at the time and wanted to challenge myself a little. I looked carefully at the different techniques Amy had used … colour spritzing … torn windows … image layering etc. and tried to copy these to “teach myself” some of these techniques! It was a really good exercise. If you ever find a project that really catches your eye … don’t be afraid to try it yourself!

I also had just bought “Scribble This” and was keen to try some watercolouring … The large flower motif on the front really finishes it off, don’t you think? I also used several accessories and punches … this really was a combination project! It helped me to try a heap of different ideas in the one project. And … it did take a little time to part with it because I was so happy with the final result. I loved the colour combination!
