Hi everyone!

At our recent class I used an idea from Convention … and it was a real hit with the class members! I think because it was a “stress-free” project – no thinking … just creating! My Friday night group seem “allergic” to thinking by Friday!!!

So … these are the fabulous little folding scrapbooks that we created … they are all created from a base of 12″ x 12″ cardstock. Score in half both ways … and cut from the centre top point down to where the two score lines cross. Fold top left square down and then fold bottom centre score backwards to form the card.

The first sample is the Convention sample … and even though it was probably the simplest in design … I just love how easy it was to put together! And … I think it looks really impressive! I did add a few little embellishments to this design.

The inside shows some simple stamping with Circle Circus & coordinating embellishments & papers. Sometimes even tiny simple embellishments can add something reallly special to your project. If you try and keep everything themed you will end up with a really nice creation.

My second sample was created around the Friends 24/7 & Friendly Words Wheel stamps. Just LOVE this set & wheel together!

This one is a little more “fussy” … but I love these colours & stamps together! I used the “Raspberry Tart” paper as a starting point!

My third sample was a little more “funky” … and was an easy one to “copy”. Some of my class girls only survive a Friday night if they have something to copy!!!

I used the Trendy Trees & Pocket Silhouette stamp sets and some gorgeous Tangerine Tango DSP as my inspiration!

I found these a perfect project for my class … They are great for sending as a photo card … just add 2 or 3 photos and use the other spaces to write some journalling or a message!

Floating Watercolour Tutorial

Fifth Avenue Floral, Floating Watercolour technique

Hi guys!

I recently demo-d this fantabulous technique at a workshop and I have had a few requests from my workshop guests & blog friends to do a step by step for this technique. I don’t have step by step photos … but here are the step by step instructions. (I will take some photos next time I make a floating watercolour card & add them to the bottom of this post as soon as I get a chance!)

Supplies Needed:

• Glossy White Cardstock (or shimmer card – non SU!)
• Embossing  Buddy
• Versamark Ink Pad
• White Embossing Powder
• Powder Pals
• Heat Tool
• Stamp with fine line image – preferrably with lots of “sections” to the image  (not solid stamp image) I have used the large rose from Fifth Avenue Floral – this is perfect!
• Water – in a spray bottle
• Aqua Painter
• Re-inkers in 3 – 4 colours

Instructions:

1. Rub Embossing Buddy over cardstock
2. Stamp image with Versamark ink – plenty of ink needed – so re-ink your Versamark pad if it is a little dry
3. Sprinkle White Embossing Powder over image – tap off excess powder
4. Heat with Heat Tool to set image
5. Spray generously with water so water “pools” in each section of image
6. Use a saucer as a “pallette” and add a drop of each of your re-inkers around the saucer
7. Use Aqua Painter to pick up ink from saucer & “touch” the end of Aqua Painter lightly to the sections you wish to colour. The water should carry the colour across the section of the image you are colouring. Add more ink if needed. Use different colours for each section for highlights. Remember to “clean” Aqua Painter before changing colours – wipe it across scrap paper until colour disappears.
8. The best way to get shaded colours within sections is to allow to image dry on a slight slant – so prop your image on an angle to dry. BUT … if there is too much water on your image … this will run … so make sure you “lift” excess water before doing so. You can do this by touching your clean Aqua Painter to each section to “draw up” the excess liquid from the image. Wipe off
   Aqua Painter on tissue to dry. Keep touching the image to draw more liquid off until it is still reasonably moist – but not too wet that the ink will run. You can see on this enlargement where the colour has “pooled” when I propped the image to dry – this gives more intense colour … and looks really great!
9. You can speed up the drying process by heating with a heat tool … but be careful not to “burn” your card! Otherwise your image will take about an hour to dry.

I hope these instructions were clear! I just love this technique … and am going to go searching for some other stamps that are appropriate for this technique & have a play! Wow! It is so quiet! I can’t believe it! My house is never quiet – especially on the weekend! But … all the big kids are out with youth group friends … Sandy is playing on his playstation … Gav ??? not sure where he is or what he is doing??? So … I am stealing a quick minute here!

Nicky Adamson Convention Swap

This is a cute little SWAP that I received from the Canberra Convention in May designed by Nicky Adamson. I LOVE the little lady bug that Nicky has highlighted by layering on dimensionals and adding some Crystal effects … giving it a real 3D look! Such a simple design …. but soooooo adorable!

So … I decided that this was a GREAT card to CASE for a simple M&T. ( I always start my workshops with a really quick M&T … just to let my guests get their hands on the stamps asap!!!) So … because we were “colouring in” with markers … I did 3 different designs so there was not too long a wait to use the markers!

I used the DSP for each card as my starting point for the colours used for each card.

Card 2 Recipe: Stamp Set: A Flower for All Seasons; Card/Paper: Basic Grey, Whisper White, Tea Party DSP; Stamp Pad: Stazon Black, Pretty in Pink (edge); Markers: Almost Amethyst, So Saffron, Pretty in Pink, Certainly Celery; Extras: Cutter Kit (distressing), Sponge Daubers & Ink (edges), Dimensionals, Crystal Effects.

Card 3 Recipe: Stamp Set: A Flower for all Seasons; Card/Paper: Riding Hood Red, Whisper White, Bella Rose DSP; Stamp Pads: Stazon Black, Old Olive (edge); Markers: Rose Red, Regal Rose, Old Olive, Chocolate Chip, White Gel Pen; Extras: Cutter Kit (distressing), Sponge Daubers & Ink (edges), Dimensionals, Crystal Effects.

How easy are these! And … so cute! Why don’t you try one for yourself. They take next to no time to create!

Mum’s 70th Birthday

Hi everyone! Long time no see!!!!!!

My mum is turning 70 at the end of July and my sister & her hubby who are both teachers … arrive today (during the Q’ld school hols) to help celebrate this milestone! We are having a family dinner on Monday … and I wanted to make a special card for my Mum. I think she will like this one … she LOVES lavendar/lilac & roses!

We were devastated to find when we arrived at school this morning that we have had another break in! Our school is a little isolated being a little out of town & surrounded by farm land. This is our second break in this week. On Monday we lost 13 computers … and this time they took the school server! That means all our school student records are gone!!! Big probs!!! It is going to take days to recover from this one … and of course our insurance company is going to hate us!!! Please pray that they will leave us alone … we are a “poor” little parent controlled Christian School that relies on the generosity of our parent volunteers & careful management of our finances to continue to function. So … our little community is feeling quite “flat” today … but I hope our fundraiser will be an opportunity to share some fun together!

I spent 5 1/2 hrs helping set up for the school auction this morning. I have worked out that this week I will have “worked” (without pay) as a volunteer at the school for various activities & excursions this week for a total of over 50 hours!!!! (Including the auction night tonight … where I am doing data entry). Phew!!! No wonder I haven’t been able to get here to say hi to all my friends!

I am home for a quick break before going back! So … no time now to do any more … but hopefully on Monday??? (Going to church tomorrow & then to Kiama to visit my sis & family who are down from Q’ld). So … still going going going!!! One day things WILL be a little quieter.

Hello!

Well … I am finally here … I just don’t know why life is so busy at the moment … but IT JUST IS!!! So many things to occupy my time lately … but … it has all been important “stuff” for me to attend to!

Before I do anything else … I just HAVE TO show you this gorgeous gift that I received from Tanya yesterday! Yes! It really did put a BIG smile on my face! I have looked at the tutorials on how to do a waterfall card … and couldn’t quite work them out … BUT … now I have a sample to check out thoroughly (although this is a bit more complicated as it is a scrapbook … not just a card!)

You can see in this pic (above) that there are several “pages” in this book … all linked to each other!

Open the book to find pages decorated with gorgeous ideas & pockets & places for pics.

And … as you turn the first page the last page (with the round tab) starts to “extend” out of the book.

For each page you turn … the last page extends further out.

And … on each new page … there is something new & delightful to check out!

I am going to have fun filling all the pockets & spots for pics!

So … isn’t this FANTASTIC! Tanya is just the cleverest & sweetest little chickadee! She was making these lovely Waterfall Scrapbooks and just thought I might like one! How special is that! So … now I need to spend some time filling it! Thanks so much Tanya! I felt so spoilt when I received this gorgeous RAK (Random act of Kindness) … and it was such a lovely surprise!

I am absolutely CRAVING to do some stamping! But … can’t see it happening until at least Friday! It is so hard … but I am being soooooo responsible and trying to complete all my commitments & responsibilities BEFORE I allow myself some time to play! I did warn you all that this was going to be another busy week! But … it will be school hols soon … always time to play then because there are NO school responsibilities!!! Off to Canberra with Sandy’s class on Thursday – we leave at 6am & get home at 9.30pm – so NO CHANCE of a post on Thurs … but hopefully I will get back here tomorrow!

We are enjoying some beautiful sunshine today … a lovely warm winter’s day … such a contrast to the rainy miserable cold days we have had over the last couple of weeks. Hope you are having a happy day!

Hello friends!

I wasn’t going to be here until later BUT Sandy’s athletics carnival has been postponed due to the rainy weather … so instead of sitting at the recording desk at the carnival … I am home trying to do some planning & prep for next week’s newsletter because it now looks like the carnival will be on Monday! Yikes! How to get the newsletter done … when I am out all day at the carnival … is a BIG problem. So perhaps if I get a head start today … I will cope!

I wanted to quickly share a stunningly beautiful card that my special upline & friend, Ness sent to me last week. Isn’t this just lovely! Ness is such an inspiration! She has over 70 people in her team now … but still finds the time to send a card to encourage special achievements! She is just a wonderful person! I have just ordered this “Raspberry Tart” DSP pack but haven’t had a chance to play yet! Don’t you think the colours are so pretty! Ness has used these as a base for her card. Real Red, Rose Red, Cameo Coral, Pretty in Pink, Kiwi Kiss. I can’t wait to try them out … and am planning to prepare a sample for tomorrow night’s class using them! I love all the “bling” … the Chunky Sprinkles are definitely a favourite of mine … must get them out again! And … love all the combinations of paper & card colours. Thanks Ness for all your kindness!
