My punch art team swap!

Hi my friends!

I did promise a couple of days ago to show you my creation for our recent team swap. It was such a fun swap … and I hope  you enjoyed seeing what the girls came up with!

I have to acknowledge that I got the punched sheep idea from Julia Bettencourt … but did design the background myself. Julia did a barn door which was amazing … but a little too much work for a swap … so I went for this easier background. I love the way the “Right on Track” wheel stamp doubles as a railroad track … and a fence!!! Isn’t that clever!

So … all the details are listed in my card recipe below. I have two friends who have had little boys just in the last couple of weeks … so it was good timing for this swap!!! I need to go and spend some time with my mum … while Dad is in respite … so … better fly!

Hello everyone … I will be back with a card later … but still need to draft that post.

I just quickly wanted to share something that brought a smile to my face … first thing this morning …

i am helen … the winner of discovering a new blog that i will be checking in regularly and when i receive the candy i will create some cards and will post to my blog for everyone to see and then direct others back to your site!!!!!!!!!! now i will take a breath ……………i am so excited!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Isn’t it lovely when someone REALLY appreciates receiving a gift … and you get a real sense that they are genuinely excited!!! I was so happy to receive this email from Helen  … who goes on to say later in her email …

i will go back to doing my happy dance hehehe!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

So … thanks Helen … for giving me my smile for the day. I am so glad you are excited!!! And … I will be posting your prize off asap! Hope it doesn’t take too long to get to Canada!

Please bear with me at the moment. We have friends coming from NZ to stay for a week on Monday … and I know this will mean I will get NOTHING done next week. So … I have a list a MILE LONG … that I am trying to get done before they come. I want to spend more time personalising my new website … I need to get my class & catty launch organised … I have to do a newsletter … planning menus & shopping … oh … the list is endless!!! So … if I am a little slow doing blog posts … you will know that I am busy with other priorities! And … blog hopping will probably not happen at all next week! Apologies to all who are so faithful at visiting my blog. I hope you continue to do so.

And … I hope I see lots of Helen and Drew here … via their comments. It sounds like Helen is a bubbly person … and the best thing about my Blog Candy offer is that I have made some new friends!

Spoilt with RAKs!

Hello everyone!

I have been working on samples for my Spotlight on Christmas class … and just stopped for a quick break because I really wanted to share these gorgeous RAKs that I have received recently.  This first one is from Tanya Kitto who is a really dear blog friend … and just seems to know when I need a “pick-me-up”! She said in the card she was sending it “just to make me smile” … and I can tell you … I did just that!!!

My second is from my no. 1 recruit, Julie, who came and supported me at my Girls Night In recently. She is always a great encouragement … and never passes up an opportunity to say thank you with an incredible card! (Although … half the time I haven’t done anything to deserve the “thank you”!!!) But … isn’t it nice … when you spend so much time creating cards for others … to receive a hand made card made especially for you!!!

And … the third is also from sweet blog friend, Lee-Anne Barry, who seems to always know exactly how I am feeling … and this amazing card was sent as an encouragement to persevere after all the “stuff” that has been going on lately! How does she always know??? I was so touched by her expressions of friendship!

Lee-Anne also surprised me … She had recently bought the sweetest Christmas image stamp and was showing us her wonderful creation using this image … on her blog. Yes … I was drooling with envy … it was such a cute image. So Lee-Anne stamped some card and sent multiple copies of the image to me to use!!! How special! I am going to make sure I use one as soon as those class cards are finished! I am sooooo in the mood for some watercolouring! And … I have just opened my Ski Slope DSPs from the Spring Mini catalogue … and I just love the colours and know they are going to suit the image perfectly!!!

This image is called “hand mailed” Soooooooo cute!!! So … I will show you that one … as soon as it is finished!

PS Aren’t computers fun!!! You just get something working well … and someone in cyberspace decides to change the protocol and they don’t tell you. I just spent the last hour trying to get my signature pic to copy & paste … using the same process that  I have always done … but NO … it just won’t work. But … I can beat them at their own game!!! LOL

Punch Art – A Feast of Ideas!

We had a really fun swap at our team meeting last Wednesday. It was such a great swap … because there were so many wonderful ideas and we got to bring home a sample of each! (If we had done our own sample to swap! ) I have heaps to show you … because they were all soooooo fantazmagorical (quoting my friend Lone – again!).

I just love Tracey’s handbag one … so clever! And the great thing about punch art cards … is that they are so quick to put together … after you have punched all the bits! There are LOTS of bits on Tracey’s card.

There was a bit of a bug theme going … but … all sooooo different! Some of these would make great birthday invitations!

So … Shannon did some samples for display … and the sports balls sample was one of her actual swaps … but she also did my favourite swap of the night ….

Isn’t this just ADORABLE!!! I think this is the sweetest thing … sooooo cute! Shannon has used:

Trendy Trees Brayering

Hi again!

I did promise you some stamping … didn’t I!

Every time I use this set I am really pleased with the result. It is such a cute (& inexpensive) set … and I often look at it and don’t know what to do with it … but when I take the plunge … I am always glad I did!!! This is called “Trendy Trees” and is one of the sets we got from Convention. This card was one we worked on together at the “2 Leonie’s” day. (After most of the girls had gone home … Pepperpot, Onie, Erin & I worked this one out together!!) I think it may be another CASE from Michelle Zindorf. The other card we did with Leonie we brayered first … then stamped on top … BUT … this one is done in reverse. We did the stamping & embossed the images and then added the back ground colour with our brayers and sponges. All the details – step by step – are listed on my card recipe at the end of this post!  So … here is the card …

From memory (I am just a little too tired to check at the moment) … this card layout is a design I got from a SCS tutorial. I think it is called a gatefold card??? (Oh darn … that’s just not like me … I am now going to HAVE to take a couple of mins to check that out for you all!!!) ……………………..

This is a really nice design for a card … and I am sure I will use this sketch again! I am feeling a little more confident with my brayering now … so I will probably try a few more of Michelle’s sometime! I have already done another (of my very own design) for a challenge on Onie’s team NING … so will show you that one soon! Until then … happy stamping!!!
