Hello my friends!

I hope you are all safe and dry and warm! With a severe weather alert for the Illawarra at the moment … I am glad to be sitting on my snuggly bed while the rain and wind batters the windows! I don’t think the storms are going to be nearly as bad as as weather bureau had predicted before the weekend … but it still is pretty miserable out there! I felt sorry for Skye & Sandy going off to school this morning! And … guess what!!! Gav is back at work … still a little sore and sorry … but he has called to let me know that he is managing ok. With such a huge improvement … after consultation (by phone) with the chiro & the radiologist … they have decided to put the cortisone injection (into the nerves) off for a week … to see how he goes. If he has 1 good day and then 2 bad … then they will go ahead next Monday with it. But … if he continues to improve … then it won’t be necessary! Yippee!!! Finally there is light at the end of the tunnel. Finally I can get my life back into some sort of routine, too! Perhaps that might even mean some stamping! I actually did sit down last night … for a little while … desperate to stamp! Do you think I could find my mojo???? I was trying some sponging on a Manhattan flower embossed card … and after 3 attempts … threw them in the bin! (Sigh) I needed some inspiration? This is what I came up with …..

If any of you visit Monika’s wonderful blog … you would recognise this design. Yes … I have CASED this from her gorgeous card … just changed the colours a little. I have been wanting to try a scallop circle card since I got my Bigz Die … and finally got to do it! But … the design inspiration is totally Monika’s!!!! Hey … did you notice the cute little Pink Pirouette button? I used the Big Shot Sizzlits “Buttons” die to cut out the shape! I stuck a few 1/2″ punched circles to the back to give it some thickness … and some Crystal Effects on top to add a bit of gloss! (Sorry … didn’t mention this on my card recipe! I also forgot to mention the “rock n roll” technique on the flowers! See … I told you my brain was not functioning properly!!! )  How fantastic to be able to make buttons to match any colour! Hello everyone! (wow! that’s a really weird perspective on that photo … how did I do that???)

Isn’t it a gloomy day … a perfect day for stamping … but here it is 3.30pm and I still haven’t had a chance! I did the soccer run this morning … Sandy’s team won! Yay! I dunno where the time has gone today? We had another parent meeting after Sandy’s match … I am soooo over the politics of junior soccer. I just wish the vocal minority would play nicer! (Parents, that is!!!) Then … a debrief with Gav … and I was beginning to feel in a gloomy mood. Perhaps it is the weather … or perhaps it is just that I can’t understand why people are so judgemental of others. There are always two sides to every story … can’t we just try and understand one another instead of fighting for our “rights”???? As Charlie Brown would say … “Good Grief”! So … I need to snap out of my gloomy mood … and what better way than to pop by here … read a few lovely comments … and share a new project with my REAL friends!!! (Actually … to be fair … the parents on Sandy’s team are really really lovely and I enjoy spending time with them (we have a great mums cheer squad) on Saturday mornings. The kids have a great rapport … and are very supportive and encouraging  of each other … but it just takes one little pickle to spoil the whole pot!!! … doesn’t it???)

This is another sample of the “Bleached – Out Images” technique that we did at our recent Twilight Stamp Club. We didn’t actually all have time to create this one … but isn’t this stamp set perfect for this technique!? You just “splotch” a bit of bleach over the embossed tree image. No need to be really careful with this one!

Well … I am running out of projects to share with you all … so I am determined to get some stamping done this arvo. I think my mojo might have disappeared, though! I might have to get some inspiration from my blog friends and do some CASE-ing! The weather reports say that we are in for some wild & woolley weather over the next 24 hours! I love the rain … but not so fussed about the wind. Oh well … I just remind myself … I have a lovely warm safe home … and there are others who don’t!!! Aren’t I in a philosophical mood today!!! I will go now … before I make you all depressed!!!

Christine (my sis) just picked up an error on the card recipe! Sorry … but it takes such an effort to change the recipe … resave it … then re-upload it … so I will just tell you here … Don’t sprinkle “clear” embossing powder – USE the black (as listed in supplies) embossing powder instead!

Hello everyone!

Today is my anniversary! Yep! 27 wonderful years!!! (Not so great the last 2 weeks … but … hey … I did say ‘for better or for worse” … AND TRULY … I do realise that this has been NOTHING compared to some of the heartache & trials that others have had to face in their marriages.  I know I whinge about running around after Gav … but I also know that I have so much to be thankful for … and so little to whine about! Anyway … it was Liam’s anniversary on the 26th and she shared a couple of wedding pics! So … would you like a little pic of me & Gav … 27 years younger, skinnier & darker???? Perhaps I shouldn’t share … I am just asking for the rude comments!!! But … here is a little self indulgence! I think I deserve it seeing we are supposed to be in Melbourne … shopping, eating out … and staying at The Oaks in the city!!!

Oh dear! Just look at that MO! I did use to think it was kinda cute!!! What was I thinking??? And “the now”… here is a pic of Gav & me … at my Mum & Dad’s 50th anniversary in early May! (Oh … and that is our kiddie son-in-law … too! He thinks he is hilarious! )

Anyway … it must be time to share another project from our recent STAMPnGIGGLE Saturday class! You will remember I showed you my 1st Project – my Nicole inspired card  … well … here is the 2nd project we did … this time a snow globe!

Yes! That really is water inside that cup!!! This really is a lot easier than it looks! Truly! I hope this has given you a FAB idea for some special Christmas cards this year! I am soooooo having withdrawals … haven’t stamped for about 2 weeks!!! (except at Convention) And … I am running out of projects to share with you! Perhaps I will find some down time tomorrow! Gav is at the chiro at the moment … so I am trying to organise some “take away” from one of our favourite restaurants. Gav just loves “Relish” at Shellharbour … and they have a 2nd restaurant at the Links Golf Club … where my Sheree’s (dd no. 2) best friend works … also called “Relish”. Tabitha is going to help me organise to get some nice dinner for our “stay at home” anniversary!!! I hope it is a nice surprise for Gav. But … I had better stop rabbiting and go and get organised! He will be home in an hour or so! I am going to try and set up a dinner table on the end of our bed!!! Can you just picture it??? LOL!!! Just as well it is a lovely big KING SIZE bed!!! (Ree also had a chiro appt … so they went together! – How sweet! Father / Daughter outing to the chiro!!) ROFL!!  See you all soon! Stampin’ Hugs xxx

Hi everyone!

Just a quickie … I have to do the soccer run this arvo (normally Gav’s job!)  I keep wondering why I can’t get on top of things … is it any wonder … when I am constantly stepping in to fill the gap for Gav??? I will try not to complain … but I am really behind with blog visits to all my fav blogs … and am feeling withdrawals!!! But … some things have just “gotta give”! Can’t be super woman … even if Lynda believes that I am!

This swap is one that I helped Leonie put together for Convention. She was in a bit of a pickle when four weeks before Convention her hubby decided to pull a heart attack on her. We (Leonie, Jenny, Tracey, Erin, Sarah, Jennifer & I) had a stamping day together a week later on May 1 to prepare our swaps for Convention … and I could tell that Leonie’s head wasn’t really in it. So … I realised she needed a bit of a hand … and the result was one of the sweet swaps that Leonie took along to Convention! I had seen this design on Tami’s Blog  – “Top Note Purse Card” Video Tutorial … and someone else at Convention also had  used this FAB idea for their swaps too! (Didn’t manage to nab one … but saw it floating around!)

Oh … and I just wanted to share the sweet card that arrived in the mail yesterday. Isn’t it just so heartwarming to receive a RAK (random act of kindness) … totally unexpected … but so appreciated!!! Thanks Lynda! You are a special blog friend! xxx

Feeling a little sad today … we were supposed to leave for Melbourne this morning for our anniversary weekend away. (28th) With Gav not up to it … we had to postpone our trip. We are NOT HAPPY with Tiger airlines … we had to pay an extra $100 to rebook flights … and we HAD TO HAVE a new date … so transfer to!  So our 4 day escape to Melbourne is on hold until Gav is feeling better. Gotta fly … off to soccer! xxx

Hello everyone

Phew! It is so hard to catch up at the moment! I have just joined up on “Stampin’ Connection” … the brand new SU! demo forum that was launched today. I think it is going to be lotsa fun! Much more friendly and interactive than the old Stampin’ Discuss! So … even though there is washing to fold … groceries to buy … classes to plan … family to see … daughter to take to the hair salon … oh … and still running up and down those stairs … I just HAD to spend a little time this morning investigating this new and FAB demo support feature! I already have some friends!! Aren’t I a lucky girl!

Some of you … having never experienced it … won’t understand what a frantic & manic time it is at Convention when we are “swapping”. Over 500 demonstrators running around the main foyer of the Convention Centre … saying “would you like to swap”??? I have to tell you … that even though I got some FABULOUS samples … it is a little intimidating … and I just can’t wait to get rid of my last one! I guess every demo is worried someone is going to look at their card … and screw up their nose!!! Yikes!!! They don’t like my card!!! But … to be honest … everyone was sooooooo lovely and friendly and enthusiastic. So … you wonder what you were worried about !!! If you scroll down to the next post … you will see a collection of SOME of the beautiful swaps that I received. And … honestly … I wanted to share them all … because there really were NO DUDS!!! But … I did think it might be too many … so just picked out my absolute favourites!!!  And … I also wanted to share with you all … the swaps that I did for Convention! I had two different samples … one was done in 4 colour variations …

So this is my first swap. I used the brand new Big Shot Die “Top Note” cut out as a frame and stamped the vine images from “Vintage Vogue” around the edge using Versamark. I embossed these with clear embossing powder … and then sponged around the edge of the frame before lifting it off to finish the card. The flowers & phrase were stamped … ribbon & brad added … plus a little Dazzling Diamonds bling in the centre of the flowers! Voila!

My second swap was made using another of my favourite stamp sets “Fresh Cuts”. I also used some of the new Window sheets … and stamped the background image with Stazon Cotton White. Can you see the tag I used on the flower? Isn’t it just so darn cute! This is the brand new Medium Jewellery Tag Punch from the Autumn / Winter Mini. I am hanging to get the stamp set that goes with it! But … you will be surprised how many tiny words there are in many of the phrase sets that we already have! Just like I used for this sample!

Hope you enjoyed seeing my swaps! And … I hope those who ended up with my swaps were as thrilled as I was with the samples that I received. Hello again!

So … did you enjoy my happy snaps from Convention!? I wanted to share some of the FABULOUS ideas … both from the display board (unfortunately I didn’t get them all) … and some of my favourite swaps! And … now that I know how to do the “slide show thingy” … what better way to show you some of these gorgeous designs. Some of these cards are swaps that Tracey received … and I didn’t get the demo details … sorry!

Aren’t there some stunning and creative ideas amongst those photos!!! I can’t wait to get my hands on my stamps and inks … and try some out! But … still running around for Gav … hair appt for Skye … groceries etc etc so I can’t see  me doing any stamping any time soon! I will … however … pop back later with MY CONVENTION SWAPS!!! Hello everyone!

Sorry … it has taken me all day to get here again! All the good intentions in the world don’t always make it happen!!! I am beginning to learn that! We have had FANTABULOUS news at the specialist today … He said Gav’s hemangioma is “very interesting” … but is actually a “red herring”!!! He spent quite a bit of time poring over the MRI … and has found a bulging & torn disc evident. (That’s the original diagnosis by the chiro … before this hemangioma turned up on the MRI!!!) But … even better … the pain is a result of the inflammation around the nerves … and although it has been so agonising … it should settle and resolve itself!!! Possibly 6 weeks full recovery … but hopefully it will only be a week or so before he is feeling significantly better. So … NO SURGERY!!! Woo hoo!! He has given Gav a referral to have a steriod injection to the nerve (with cat scan guidance) to settle the inflammation a little more quickly … but we can’t get an appointment until Monday afternoon … so by then it probably won’t be needed! I feel a bit of a fraud now … all that fuss … for something so insignificant!!! So … even though I am feeling foolish … I am just so thankful for this final diagnosis. I know that there have been lots of prayers … and so much concern and care from so many … and I know God has been in control the whole time … and this is all part of His plan! Thank you to all those who have sent messages of concern. It has been a huge encouragement to me and if I could give you all a BIG HUG … I would do so!!! Even in the mail today … when we got home from the doctor’s … was a sweet hand stamped card from my dear blog friend Lynda! It truly warmed my heart … just as every comment and message has! My “thank you” words hardly seem adequate … but in blog land … that is all I can do! Say THANK YOU!

I do have so much to share with you after Convention … I have some gorgeous swaps … and photos of some FAB projects that were demonstrated … but I thought I would start with some photos from the weekend!

I didn’t realise how tired I was looking until I saw these photos! Not the best … but after the week I had … who can blame me??? This is the first time I have tried inserting a slideshow into a post!
