Hello everyone!

I was beginning to get withdrawals … were you??? I am NOT going to bore you with the details of my busy life … just suffice it to say … last week was a DOOZY … and the weekend was just as bad … and then the new week started off with me chasing my tail for the whole day yesterday!!! But … finally I have found a few minutes to pop by and say hi! Before I show you my card for today … I just wanted to remind you … that my BLOG CANDY OFFER expires tomorrow night! (I know a couple more friends have said they will get a card submitted … so … I hope you find the time to get that in today!) So … time for a card! This one is from our Stamp Club last week … we did a “refresher” class on brayering. Our first card was to highlight the “bouncing brayer” technique …

This technique is explained on SCS …. but their sample uses a kaleidoscope stamp pad (multi colour). Seeing I don’t have one of those … I just adapted by using 3 different colours for the background effect. Regal Rose, Melon Mambo & Tangerine Tango. I think it looked quite striking … particularly with the Black! My girls commented that they would never have thought to put pink & orange together … but were quite impressed with the final result!   Details for this technique can be found on my card recipe at the end of the post!

I do have to fly (AGAIN!!!! ) Skye’s music class is doing their HSC practice performances at school this afternoon. Skye is singing 2 songs + another of her own compositions. She has still not recovered fully from her flu from last week … but … I am sure my mum hat will go on and I will think she is singing like an angel! Hopefully by the time she has to perform again for her final HSC … she will be completely well. Hope you are having a happy day. Stampin’ Hugs xxx

Brayering – impressive but easy!

Hi guys!

Tonight is stamp club … our second last for this session … and I had a request from my sis for a lesson on brayering. When we only do 2 samples … it is hard to pick which “type” of brayering to focus on … but I think I have picked a couple of different looks to demo tonight. This is not one of them … but is a sample I made as another example of brayering to show the girls!

The images on this card have been embossed with white embossing powder … and then the brayering was done over the top. Aren’t the soft colours lovely! A little bit of bling … and easy peasy! (Yes … Lynda! Embossing IS easy! … I am sure you can master it! )

Skye finishes her trial HSC exams this morning (11am) … and we are off to have lunch somewhere as a reward for all her hard work over the last few weeks. Her finals begin early October. Poor baby had her music exam yesterday … which included a performance of two pieces. She has been working so hard on these songs with her singing teacher … and at home. She was so excited with how they were sounding. But … she has been sick all week with the flu & her asthma is playing up! Not the best week to get the flu … during her exams … and she was very “husky” yesterday going off to her music exam. She was so disappointed that she couldn’t perform to the best of her ability … and couldn’t do the job she knew she was capable of. We are just hoping that the “markers” will take that into account. Surely … they would have to???

Vintage Vogue Sparkle

Hi there!

Did I tell you that my current FAVOURITE set is BACK!!!??? Yes … “Vintage Vogue” is back in the new IB&C … and I am thrilled! This really is one of the most versatile sets that I have ever used. And … so easy to create a WOW card! I have been very self-disciplined in the last couple of weeks … but just had to break out this FAB set … because I was having withdrawals! giggle!

This card was inspired by a gorgeous card on Sarah’s blog. I love the red colour that Sarah has used … but … I decided to try a different colour. That is what CASE-ing is all about. I have heard on some blogs that “CASE” means “copy and share everything” … whilst others tell me it means “copy and selectively edit”. Not sure which is the correct one … but … I always try to do something a little different from the original. (Although, sometimes it is hard to improve on perfection! ) I have used the “masking” technique on this card so I could overlap the flower images. Doesn’t it look lovely! The rhinestones on this card are not SU! but … GOOD NEWS … SU! does have some “jewels” in the new catty! And … some half pearls! Yippee!!! I am a huge fan of rhinestones … but don’t use them often because they aren’t SU! I am happy we have some of our own now! Giggle  …  I’ll tell you a secret … the word window phrase “thinking of you” … was originally stamped directly onto the card (like Sarah did) … BUT … giggle … I stamped it upside down! OOOPS!!! So … I had to come up with something to hide it!

I am popping out to do a little shopping … I have 3 birthdays / 2 father’s days / + baby presents to buy! Oooh! I had better get cracking on all those cards, too! Also … heaps of things to keep me busy … preparation for our Stamp Club on Friday! Yay! And … I also need to start getting organised for the new catty launch! Plus … I want to get my order ready for Sept 1 … so I can get it in early! So … I had better toddle off and get some stuff done! Have a lovely day! Stampin’ Hugs xxx

STAMPnGIGGLE – Father’s Day Card

Hi guys!

I thought I would quickly share another of the cards we did at our recent STAMPnGIGGLE class. We had lots of fun finding some new ideas for MALE cards! Always a little trickier … but there are some FAB ideas around in cyberspace! This card was inspired by a card created by Paula – Stampinantics … one of my fav blogs to visit! Make sure you pop by and check out  some of Paula’s lovely creations!

Isn’t this cute! There are a few tutorials around that show you how to do the “origami shirt” that is on this card. Here is one that we used in our class -> Scrap A Little.

We also tried a new technique on this card called “faux suede” … and the Soft Suede was the perfect colour to use for this one.  (You can probably see this better on the full card pic above!) Faux Suede is done by using your bone folder to “work” the card piece until it softens and the edges start to peel apart. Drag your bone folder across the card piece … back and forward … on both sides … and all over – including the centre. You will notice the edges start to come apart … so very gently … ease the card piece apart to create 2 pieces of card. Be careful not to rush this process … but it is worth it … giving a FAB suede look to your card. The inside of the card pieces are the “suede” side.

Helping Hudson Wk3 Colour

Hi again!

I am posting this a little early … but I wanted to make sure it was on time for the challenge deadline! I am such a doofus when it comes to deadlines! This is the 3rd of the Helping Hudson Challenges for this week. Have you bought your tutorial packs yet??? These special packs are only available for ONE MORE DAY! And … they are full of great project & card ideas. For $10 they are a bargain! I am looking forward to receiving mine!

The requirements for this challenge was to use only 1 colour + a neutral. Any number of tones of the same colour are accepted. So … I was going to reach for my pinks … but then decided I needed to try something different. So … I love purples … greens … pinks … and I sooo wanted to use one of them … But … I decided to think outside the square … (warning … sunglasses needed!) and I pulled out my orange tones! Pumpkin Pie & Tangerine Tango … plus a little of the soon to be retired Apricot Appeal. I popped the card front onto a Confetti White base … for my neutral! I based the design on the sketch challenge from Our Creative Corner #28. This gorgeous set from the Spring Mini is BACK … in the new catty! Woo hoo! I love how sweet these images are. Thanks for taking the time to check out my blog. I am still hoping that you might think about doing a card for my blog challenge! I am feeling a little pathetic … with only 2 entries!!! But … I do know how busy everyone is! Don’t forget there is a great prize pack up for grabs! Sandy is playing his semi-finals for soccer tomorrow (Sat) … his team finished 2nd after the rounds. Hopefully they will do well! Helping Hudson Wk3 – Technique

Hi again!

I do hope you are all working on your submission for my blog challenge! Please … pretty please!!! I was beginning to worry that I wouldn’t have any gorgeous creations to judge …  but the wonderful Aly has sent me her link! Thankyou Aly … I love your card … and I can’t wait to see what my other blog friends might have to offer! Don’t forget the deadline of Sept 1! This is so much fun!

My card today is another entry for the Helping Hudson blog … and this time it is a technique challenge … we had to include embossing and sponging. Now … I spent AGES trying to get a good photo to show the glossy embossing on the butterflies … and on the leaves. I took night shots with flash / without flash … and muted light shots … and outside shots … and daytime with flash … and every angle possible for each of these scenarios … but it was almost impossible to pick up the glossy finish. So … you are just going to have to take my word for it … there is clear embossing on this card!!!!! giggle!

Isn’t this colour combo just gorgeous!!! Yes … the new catty is here … and I have so enjoyed browsing through and examining all the colour combinations that SU! have put together on their stunning projects. This is one of them! I love that with each new catty comes HEAPS of ideas and inspiration … a new way of viewing colour combinations … and great accessories and accent ideas! This catalogue is worth having JUST FOR THE IDEAS!!! I guess that is why SU! call it an “Idea Book & Catalogue!”. I really enjoy pulling inspiration from this FAB resource! Don’t forget to order your new IB&C … my boxes should arrive any day! Get your wish lists ready! Off for coffee with Ness’ team … we have our monthly “goal setting” get together at a lovely little coffee house at Shellharbour Village. It will be nice to see all the girls … especially since I had to miss our team training night on Wednesday night. Then I have to be back by 12 noon to pick up Skye from her exams.

We are getting very frustrated with our internet … I won’t bore you with the details … but it appears we are going to have to change servers … to be included in a different coverage area. The end result should be worth it … but it does mean changing email addresses … and that is going to be a HUGE pain in the butt!  At the moment … we are not able to use our internet after about 6pm … because it has slowed down to 0.01 speed … and it should be around 0.5 – 0.8! (Not sure what that means … but Gav has been doing speed tests with the tech guy … and ours is dinosaur!) It takes about 20 mins to download a page! The wind storm definitely had an effect somewhere! So … you can imagine our pain and frustration!!! Hopefully … it will be fixed soon … but until it is … I know you will understand that I can’t do any chatting on forums … or posting … or blurfing at night. And … there is only so much you can fit in during the day! I hope you all have a happy day! Stampin’ Hugs xxx
