Recent Stamp-a-stack samples

Hi girls! I hope you are all smiling today … cos that means you are having a great day! During the holidays, my sister, Christine, had a Christmas Stamp-a-stack / girls day out. We had great fun! Because she had planned for the event to run for the whole day … with a yummy lunch in between, I decided to do a special S-A-S! Instead of making 2 each of 3 different cards … we did 2 each of 5 different designs. And because we had no time constraints … all the guests went home with their cards complete! (Those who were able to stay all day.) It was a great chance to get some lovely ideas for Chrissy Cards … and also get started on stash for this year!

Now … I cannot take full credit for every design … but I did have lotsa fun surfing for ideas! This first card is one I found on a friend (& upline’s) blog. I fell in love with this design … it is so pretty & so impressive! A definite “Wow” card! Leonie is soooo clever! I love visiting her blog.

Cardstock used: Main card – Blue Bayou, Frame – Soft Sky & Whisper White

Technique: Masking & Stamping Off

I created a template for my guests to use by cutting out an oval from a piece of card. We used a little 2-way glue to attach it to the whisper white to hold it in place (a little 2-way glue left to dry before sticking acts like a post it note. But … do make sure it is dry!)

So … with oval template in place I dusted some bashful blue pastels (chalk) around the edge of the oval and into the centre gradually lightening the colour as I worked towards the centre. Before I took the oval “mask” off the card I also stamped a couple of snowflakes around the edge with soft sky ink – overlapping the mask … and then “stamped off” (inked then stamped on scrap paper then stamped onto card – to give a less intense colour image) another couple of snowflakes. (you can almost see them in the photo!) After removing the oval mask I stamped a “God’s Blessings” verse in the centre with Blue Bayou ink & 3 more different snowflakes around the edge. Sooooo pretty! The brad in the centre of the largest snowflake is a silver brad with a mini glue dot on the top … and dipped in dazzling diamonds! How clever is that trick! The brad is lovely with the opal diamonds on it! Putting the card together was very easy! I added some soft sky ribbon through a slot punched hole … then a bit of random stamping on the back ground … then just snail & dimensionals to layer together. Don’t you just love this one? Thanks Leonie for the inspiration!

Another really easy card we did at the stamp-a-stack was this lovely Season of Joy card. Yes! Another … but Christine did ask for Season of Joy! I love these colours for Christmas! Bashful Blue, Almost Amethyst & Elegant Eggplant! And … of course, a panel of whisper white. Now … the photo is not a great one … because the colours are a little muted. But the flowers here are actually inked with markers – 3 petals in bashful blue & 3 petals in almost amethyst & the dots are done with the elegant eggplant. The finished effect was really pretty … it’s a shame it hasn’t come up well in the photo! A bit of random stamping again … with the swirls from “Season of Joy” stamped across the amethyst panel. The phrase is from the “Solemn Stillness” set & is stamped with elegant eggplant. A little bit of bashful blue ribbon to finish it off!

So … what do you think!? I hope you are getting quite a stack of Christmas cards done … with all the suggestions I have given you! Don’t forget to check out my Season of Joy bundle. I know that those who have ordered this bundle are having lots of fun with it!

Until next time …

  2. They are great Christmas cards, I will be casing them, I have the Season of Joy stamp set but will have to substitute the other one with Snow Burst. How did you create the oval shape? As I have trouble cutting out shapes, can I have a template, please.

I have sent you an email with an order so hopefully you have received it and this helps with your donation to the Cancer Council.
Hi Kathryn. I was so totally thrilled to get your order! Thanks so much! I am so pleased that my Cancer Council donation is slowly building! This order should take me over the $100 mark! So thank you doubly! I will send you a template for the oval mask in the mail … I just drew it freehand & cut it out and was totally surprised when it actually looked even!!! 🙂 … I have your address with your order so keep watching in the mail! And … will get your order to you asap! Thanks so much for your kindness!
