Brayer – Technique Class for Stamp Club

Hi everyone!

For those who have not yet joined one of my Stamp Clubs … have I got a treat for you! I know you will be clamoring to join once you have seen this fabulous technique that we learnt at our first class this month!

I had so much fun getting ready for my first Stamp Club! I haven’t had much of a play with my brayer … and after my sis requested that I show them how to use one properly I thought I had better refine my techniques! Until now I had really only used a brayer to ink a card that had been embossed … but after a bit of surfing (again) I realised that you can use your brayer to paint a picture on your cardstock! I am absolutely blown away with the talents of some of the people that I checked out!

I love how professional these cards look … and although it is a little tricky to master … it really isn’t too difficult! I hope the girls that attended my recent Stamp Clubs enjoyed learning this new technique!

We made two cards in the class … and I have included them both here … (Double click on the photos & you will get the detail much better)

The first card looks amazing but is actually not difficult. I used a punched circle “mask” to stick to the card to create the moon effect.  (Lift the mask off after you have done all the brayering on the card.) The flower stalks are from a hostess set called “Oh So Lovely” and the phrase is from “Sweet Serendipity”. The butterfly is from “Garden Whimsy”. You can get an idea of the process by the card samples sitting in front of the card. I am hoping to do a tutorial sometime … so will give you better detail about “how to” another day! (Keep watching!)

The second is a gorgeous snow scene with my FAVOURITE NEW STAMP SET called “Lovely as a Tree”. Like Ness (my wonderful upline & friend) I have been eyeing this stamp set off for a while. I have seen so many beautiful cards created using this set. I know it kinda looks boring in the catalogue … but some stamp sets are just soooo deceiving! I justified buying it because I knew it would be great for this brayering technique! 😀 And … since I have demo-ed it … my customers have fallen in love with it, too! I was actually quite proud of both efforts! Can I say that??? 😉

Even though I knew we wouldn’t have time to make 3 cards, I still wanted to demo this gorgeous card to the girls. It is done with a slightly different technique … a little trickier again … but certainly achievable! (If I can do it anyone can! 😉 ) I think this design is an absolute masterpiece … but I can’t take the credit! I have to acknowledge help with this design & let you know that I followed a tutorial to create this card. It is CASED from the most amazing & remarkable brayer website that I have found online. HHHmmm … should I share my secret? 😀 Of course, I can!!! I just can’t keep this one to myself! This artist … and she is an amazing artist … is Michelle Zindorf. She has a wonderful array of brayering tutorials including the one I looked at to create this seashore card. Some of her cards are sponged rather than brayered. But … I have to admit I am in awe! I read on her blog that she puts a new card on her blog every day & gets up at 4.30am to do so! It takes her around 2 to 2 1/2 hrs to complete a card (including the tutorial photography) & post it on her blog! Then she goes off to her day job!!! Amazing! I truly appreciate all her efforts!
