Card for Jacinta!

Hi girls!

I soooooo wanted to share something BRAND NEW with you today … but had to take myself off to bed last night. That coldy/heady thing got the better of me! I have two kids home sick today with the same thing! Not a great start to the season!!! We are going camping over Easter … so really need to get well again! So … I am sorry … I have opened my box of goodies … but haven’t had the energy or inclination to play! You should see the pretty Supernova glitters! Love the colours & can’t wait to use them! I do feel a little better this morning … but with my mum visiting this morning … and getting organised for camping … I’m not sure when I will find time to stamp.

So … I am sharing a post that I had drafted a couple of days ago! It’s nice to have a couple up my sleeve … for busy times! But … this is my last one! Will have to get busy sometime soon!

I have to admit that this card did take a little longer than usual! But … it is for a niece who is turning 12 soon … and I know she really loves making cards & doing craft … so I know it will be TRULY appreciated! I know she will pore over all the details … so it was worth putting a little extra effort into this one!

The colours for this card were determined by the brayering I did for the background. I had a picture in my head before I started … but chose the colours knowing that I was creating a “painting”! I started with a piece of white card & brayered some “Pink Pirouette” along the centre of the card. Then I brayered some Baja Breeze (light blue) & Not Quite Navy on the top … and some Kiwi Kiss and Old Olive along the bottom. These were the colours that I incorporated into the images & cardstock … but I also added some “Perfect Plum” (inks & card) & some “Close to Cocoa” on the tree stump & Melinda’s hair! I just love the colours … so pretty!

This is another gorgeous NEW image from Whiff of Joy “Musing Melinda” & their “tree stump” & butterflies. The three flowers are stamped using a “Polka Dot Punches” (recent Sale-a-bration set) image & punched with the 5 petal flower punch. I have added some tiny flower embellishments in the centre of each. All the images have been watercoloured with ink picked up from the stamp pads using an aqua painter. I am really enjoying getting back to some watercolouring recently!

This card has lots of layering … and 3D effect. But … you can’t see that at all in the picture above. This pic here shows it a little better … but still doesn’t show that I used double dimensionals on the Melinda image so she is even more 3D than the tree stump (mounted using single dimensionals). It is hard to show dimension in photos! 😀

I have also added some “bling” … Dazzling Diamonds on Melinda’s wings … the butterflies & the flowers. I was thrilled with this one … and I know Jacinta will absolutely love it! Potential for a new recruit??? Only 6 years before she can join up!!! 😀

And … of course … I always like to finish a special gift card off with a pretty insert & envelope to match! Sorry about the photography. I have decided it really is better to photograph in daylight without a flash to wash out the bling & the colours!
