Shelli’s Masterpieces!

Hi girls!

SU! Convention May09 105I am just so excited to show you these projects demonstrated by Shelli at Convention. Do you know of any other CEO that sits down and makes cards for their demonstrators at a Convention??? Shelli is still “hands on” when it comes to design for SU! She has her own favourite range in the new Catty called “Shelli’s Signature Collection”. And … she still loves to share what she loves! She is sooooo down to earth … laughing off her “mistakes” … and really enjoying the crowd responses! It was a FAB demo.

And … after watching her demo … I am even more convinced that I really need to look at new sets more carefully. The set that she used for some of her demo was the “Friends 24-7” set. I really had decided it wasn’t for me … but I had totally changed my mind by the time Shelli had finished her demo! Talk about a good salesperson!!! 😀 😉

This is the card that Shelli showed us …

She has used some very soft colours. And … I’m going to have a guess at them … Background: Pink Pirouette textured , Kraft Cardstock, Main Image Card: Naturals Ivory. The ribbons have both been dyed with coffee – the lace one is from a “Ribbon originals” pack & the frilled ribbon is actually Pretty in Pink Taffeta ribbon which has been gathered along one edge with thread. Isn’t it gorgeous!!! Shelli has softly stamped the background with the flourish stamp with Pink Pirouette. (I think some have been stamped off first to give very soft colour & some have been stamped with Versamark??) Then she has rolled the “Friendly Words” – the coordinating Jumbo Wheel Stamp – across the bottom edge of the card & added the flower stamped image as another accent. (Basic Brown stamp pad) So … there are actually 3 layers of stamping on the main card! How stunning … and something I haven’t tried much before. Shelli has softly watercoloured the flower image and you can see some “splatter” of ink across the card … not done with the spritzer … but just done by using a wet paint brush … dipping in re-inker & flicking it across the card.  The final touch – how clever – Shelli has actually stamped the “Friends” phrase stamp from the same set straight onto the flower from the pretties kit & added a Rhinestone Brad. I have got to say … I think this was my favourite card of the whole weekend. And … with a stamp set that originally I wasn’t really keen on! Needless to say … my first day back … my first order included both the stamp set & the jumbo wheel stamp. I can’t believe how I had missed the exquisite potential of this set!

This is an alternate card of the same design … Shelli created this especially for those who might not be bothered with dying ribbon with coffee. She has substituted Basic Black for the Sahara Sand. I love both versions! Oh … and if I remember Shelli’s demo correctly … across the very bottom of both samples she has run her wheel stamp over several times (mostly hidden by the ribbon) … to give a distinct edge to the card. These two cards are perfect examples of how a stamp set is designed to work together … and with the coordinating wheel stamp! All the stamps just combine to give a beautiful picture.

And … this wasn’t a demo … but Shelli showed us this stunning wall hanging that she also created along the same theme. I’m not quite sure why the background looks so shimmery … I think it must be in the paint that she has used to paint the piece of timber. Perhaps someone can let me know if they have any idea?

So … you can see why I came home and ordered that set! I told Shelli when I met her … that this set was now a “NEED”! 😀 Are you convinced? Do you love it as much as I do? Then … contact me & I can put an order in for you! It only takes a few days to arrive … I can’t wait to have a play with mine! It arrived yesterday!

signature-picSo … that is your first taste of Convention – please let me know what you think! So much more to share … so will be back as soon as I can!
