Kelly’s Workshop

I had so many ideas floating around in my head for Kelly’s workshop last Saturday … and eventually did settle on 3 great projects that I got from Convention. Two were swap ideas … and one was a demo that Shannon did as a “workshop WOW”.

Kelly's W'shop May09 008This is the Shannon’s project … and is just the cutest little card & pocket. Isn’t it adorable! And … I just happened to have bought this precious little stamp set “You & Moi” just before I went off to Convention. I was tickled that Shannon used it for such a cute project and I was able to put it to good use when I got home! 😀 Inside the pocket are three of these little “kiss” cards! The pocket is just a simple tri-fold with a bottom centre flap that folds up to keep the love notes inside. The corners on both flaps are rounded and the front is covered with DSP. So … are you wondering how to do the sparkly lips??? Just cover your lips with coloured sticky lip gloss! Make a pout … and press your lips to the card. Sprinkle with a mixture of heat & stick powder & dazzling diamonds … and tap off excess powder. Set with a heat gun! The lip gloss acts just like Versamark … and grabs the heat & stick powder … which … in turn melts & grabs the dazzling diamonds … and when it is cool – voila! The lips are embossed! This made a gorgeous hostess gift for my teenage hostess! Kelly just loved it!

Kelly's W'shop May09 001We did two make & takes … I always like to do a really quick & easy card to start my workshops! This was a resized version of a gorgeous swap that I received from Debbie Robinson. (I can’t find a blog for Debbie … if anyone has any contact details please let me know!) You can see Debbie’s sample in the cellophane bag on the right. I was instantly struck with the colours for this card. Basic Black, Pretty in Pink, Almost Amethyst & Whisper White. Because I resized mine to a square (9cm x 9cm) card … I just used a slightly smaller phrase stamp & lifted the medallion a little higher on the card. The medallion is stamped with Whisper White Craft ink & embossed with heat & stick powder mixed with dazzling diamonds. The photo just doesn’t do it justice … this is such a pretty effect on the black card. A real “wow” at the workshop! Stamp Sets: Boho Backgrounds + any phrase stamp. Thanks so much for the inspiration, Debbie!

Kelly's W'shop May09 003My third project was a Mother’s Day card … just in time for Mother’s Day. I had seen these little flower pot cards on a few blogs … but did receive the pretty orange one from Robyn Lawton as a swap at Convention. Robyn used Tangerine Tango, Riding Hood Red, Kiwi Kiss & Choc Chip for her card. Mine is done with So Saffron, Not Quite Navy, Bashful Blue & Certainly Celery. The flowers are created using the FAB “Petal Pizzazz” stamp set and you can see that the scallop flowers fit the scallop circle punch perfectly! This was an easy but impressive card to do as a make & take and Kelly’s guests were thrilled to take home two pretty cards! Stamp sets: Petal Pizzazz & Watercolour Vine Jumbo Wheel Stamp.

It is interesting … how you can be totally happy with a card … until you see it with a little something extra! This is where SU! excels! We have all the coordinating products that just add the little something else to make your card just a little more special! Here are both make & takes … with a little extra pizzazz added!!!

Kelly's W'shop May09 012
Added on right: Sponging, Paper Piercing, Trio flowers, Rhinestone Brads

Kelly's W'shop May09 004
Added on left: Sticky Strip with Supernova glitter, Yellow Rhinestone Brad, Flower Brad, Crystal Effects to extra flower

Isn’t it amazing … those small added extras … really do make a difference! But … simple is always elegant … and never boring!!! It just depends on your mood, don’t you think??? 😀

signature-picOff to lunch with my sister-in-law for her birthday! Should be a nice quiet relax for just a few hours!

  1. Hi Andrea, I love these cute little pot’s. Especially the trick with the sticky strip and supernova. I have supernova at home but it looks so messy to use. But you have given me a great idea. Thanks I hope you don’t mind me borrowing your idea.
