It is my gorgeous Skye’s birthday today! And … as is typical of a 17 year old … she spent most of her time before school responding to text messages on her phone! HHHmmm… no time for mum to reminisce! Oh well … at least I can show you her birthday card!
I FINALLY gave in and ordered this set … it has been on my “wish list” since the IB&C came out in April. I think I have been really restrained!!! But … I have just received a “sneak peek” of the new mini catalogue … and have SO MUCH to add to my wish list AGAIN!!! Oh no! But … I can’t wait for you all to see it! (It starts 1 Aug!) You are going to love it!
So … here is Skye’s Birthday Card … she loves pink!!!
This new set is called “Flight of the Butterfly” and is a two-step stamping set. Just gorgeous … lots of combinations and I am sure I will use it heaps! I did CASE this from a card I saw on Splitcoast designed by Peggy-Sue Stuckky who is a US demo. (No blog as far as I can see!) Mine is a little different … but isn’t it a sweet design!? And … so simple to create!
- Stamp Sets: Flight of the Butterfly, Sweet Stems
- Cardstock: Whisper White, Pink Passion
- Inks: Basic Black, Pink Passion + Pink Passion Marker
- Accents: Silver Pearls (non SU!), Silver Dew Drop (non SU!), Pink Dew Drops (non SU!), Pink Fabric Flower (non SU!), Dazzling Diamonds (added with 2-way glue pen)
- Detail: Butterflies stamped in black onto white card … and in pink onto pink card. Pink butterflies cut out and stuck onto black images to give a “shadow” effect. ALSO: I did use my Stamp-a-ma-jig for ALL the stamping on this card … I wanted to make sure everything was placed exactly where I wanted … and because I was cutting the butterflies out … I wanted the two-step stamp images to line up as well! Please don’t underestimate HOW HANDY a Stamp-a-ma-jig is … I am so glad to have it in my product stash! I use if frequently!
I had so much fun creating this card … using my new stamp set … and playing with pink & black! (I love pink & black together!!!) Hope it inspires you to get out your stamps today! Back with more asap!

Happy Birthday Skye 🙂
Andrea, I love your card……& you caved lol
So cute & I love pink too just GORGEOUS
Surely Skye will spend some time with her lovely mum during the day, I spose it is just another hurdle to jump realising we aren’t the most important being in our childrens lives 😦 but knowing they will always love us will have to hold us over.
Take care Andrea
Andrea adds: Hi Tanya! I will pass on your birthday hello to Skye! Thanks! I know that Skyzee is always thankful for the things I do … and often says she is glad I am her mum! So that is nice to know! I understand, though, that there are lots of distractions in a 17yr old’s life!
A beautiful card for a gorgeous 17 year old – Happy Birthday Skye.
I sooo know what you mean about 17yo daughters and their mobiles! How did WE ever manage to grow up without them?!?!? LOL
Andrea adds: Thanks for your birthday wishes … I will make sure she knows you sent them! And … yep! So right … how did we manage without mobile phones. I have to admit … I would be lost without mine now! 😉
Andrea, your special card is beautiful and I am sure will be very much appreciated….and it is PINK!!! You can’t co wrong with butterflies can u??
Andrea adds: Thanks Linda. Skye was happy with this one! 😀 Butterflies are ALWAYS good! (except perhaps for hubby!!! 😉 )
I am interested in getting some dew drops. They are lovely! Have you found a cheap supplier? I saw one site had 24 diff colours and cost about $30 US. However it would have doubled in price to ship it here!! And then there is the exchange rate. I probably don’t need 24 colours anyway!
Andrea adds: I found mine at Seven kids college fund site … Not sure if that is where you looked!? They have lots of individual colours (or two colours together) in separate bottles. Can you let me know if you are ordering … I would like another couple of colours! Thanks!
OMGosh Andrea this card is adorable!! I’m a pink lover too and Happy Birthday to your daughter… a bit late! Oops! But I’m sure she loved it… we received our new SU! catty by July 1st in the states and guess what? They now have a butterfly punch for this set!! I’m getting my wish list ready and need to place my order… SELF CONTROL!! Ya, right! 🙂
Andrea adds: OOOOOH OOOOOH! A butterfly punch??? Do I have to wait another 14 mths before we get one??? (The Aus catty is going through to Sept next year … 17 months for our current catty!!!) I want one now!!!
