21st Birthday Invitations

Hello bloggies!

I have decided today is going to be a “happy post”! Enough of the self-indulgent “glums”. Yes … Sandy is back at school … and yes … Shane is a million miles away … and yes … my mojo has taken a hike … but when I think of those recovering from the devastating floods and now … those preparing for the worst cyclone in Q’ld’s history (they say almost as big as Hurrican Katrina) … I have ABSOLUTELY NOTHING to moan about! 😀 So … even though I was on a “no motivation whatsoever” slump yesterday … I did manage to get Sheree’s 21st invitations finished … and I was really pleased with how they turned out! Somehow … they came together really easily … and they were fun to create! 😀

We wanted something bright and fun … to match Ree’s sweet personality … and the Island Oasis DSP just seemed a natural place to start. The envelopes for the invitations are made using the scallop envelope die for my wonderful Big Shot. I just have to pause for a minute to say … my Big Shot was worth every cent!!! I can’t believe the extra dimensions that having this wonderful tool has given to my card making. So many endless ideas … and I just wish I had more time to play with it! Anyway … the invitation was printed onto copy paper … and I designed this “print out” to allow for stamping down the side and across the bottom with some scalloping on the top where it is stuck to the card frame. Very simple design … really!

The stamping did take a little while … with 35 invites … and 8 different stamps & 4 different colours used on each. But it was lotsa fun! 😀 I have used flower stamps from 3 different sets … Simply Said, Cottage Garden, & For Everything. The colours match the Island Oasis DSP … Pumpkin Pie, Rose Red, Tempting Turquoise & Old Olive. I think the final effect is really sweet and bright and happy!

I just want to finish with a standing ovation for all of YOU!!!!! I am constantly amazed at the people that have been brought into my life via blogging & stamping. Thank you so much to all those who left such encouraging comments over the last couple of days. You have no idea what a help they were. C U all soon! Hugs xxaxx

You know – it really is OK to have the “glums”. But I bet those wonderfully colored cards really helped! I love the foldout invite – so fun!
Andrea adds: Thanks Kim! So nice to know that it is OK! 😀 I am feeling heaps better today! Isn’t the fold out a great idea. Means you can have a lot more info inside that little envelope. Hugs xxaxx
