My first Cocoa Card!

Hello bloggies!

I am SUPER EXCITED!!!! I popped over to JAI last night to find that I got a “TOP 3 PICK” for my ANZAC card!!! I was so tickled … because this card was the first I had done after a bit of a “lay off” after Dad had his heart attack … and I was feeling very low in MOJO! So … it was particularly thrilling to get this award! 😀 It is always lovely to have the acknowledgement from such a wonderfully talented group of stampers such as those on the Design Team at JAI! Thanks so much girls … you certainly put a smile on my face … after a stressful few weeks.

I finally had the chance to have another play yesterday afternoon … after visiting Dad at the nursing home. And … I remembered that I had downloaded a few digi images recently from the Sweet ‘n Sassy Stamps site. (Click blinkie to visit site.) They have been sitting unused on my computer for about a month! I discovered this site via a fav blog … and because I admire Denise’s creations so much … I thought I would just try a couple of images. I chose a few Cocoa the mouse images … and this is my first ever Cocoa card!

>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>

This image is called Lilacs for Cocoa … and I thought it would be perfect for a sweet mother’s day card. Here is the sketch for this challenge … click on this pic to visit the Sweet Stop Sketch Challenge Blog … and see some stunning Design Team samples! You will love them all!!! I don’t have an oval cutter or dies … but I think the image is kinda an oval shape … so I hope it is okay!????

Now I have both mother’s day cards ready … so a big √ for me! How organised! 😉 My m-i-l loves lavender and lilac … so this will be for her for sure! I don’t have the Copics (ooooh … there’s a thought for mother’s day! … must drop some hints!!!) … so I pulled out my watercolour pencils that I haven’t used in absolutely aaaagggeeesss!!! I was kinda pleased with the results … although I am still very envious of those Copics!!! It was so easy to print out the image and use it … but for some reason I think I prefer to use real stamps. (Note: These Cocoa digi images are available in clear stamps as well as digi images!) The little flowers are punched using the new Itty Bitty Shapes punch pack (3 pack of punches) + the Trio Flower punch (now retired by SU!).

I just had to add this card (above) … cos it is soooo delicious! Jess sent me this RAK to congratulate me on the birth of little Bree. How sweet! I love the flowers on this card. They are white embossed and coloured with markers onto the Crumb Cake card. Very striking and pretty IRL. Thanks so much Jess for your lovely wishes … and for popping some happy mail into my mail box! 😀

Well … I am keen to try the new JAI challenge … hopefully I will find the time today. Thanks for stopping by … and thanks for all the lovely comments that have been filling my comment box recently. You are all wonderful friends! Hugs xxaxx

    Hi Andrea,
Glad to see you received your card in the mail 🙂 Congrats on the JAI win, a VERY worthy winner…. Your card is just too cute by the way…. I agree though, there is nothing better than holding a stamp in your hands….
    have a great day!
    Jess
Andrea adds: Thanks again, Jess! I love happy mail. Thanks too for the congrats! A digi image is much harder to tweak or manipulate … so I do think next time I will buy the clear stamps instead! But … I am sure this is a personal preference! 😀 Hugs xxaxx

Keep up the fantastic job you are doing GG…hee hee hee!! ooxx
Andrea adds: LOL … Lynda … as much as I love you … I have to tell you that “Grandy” is my mother-in-law’s grandma name … and so … I am not sitting quite happily with that one! Not cos I don’t love my m-i-l … but just because it feels sooooo old!!! Am I being too “precious”???? 😉 But … I did appreciate the sentiment! 😀 Hugs xxaxx

Ahhhhh…you did wonderfully well with your first Cocoa! I hear you about the digis – I just love touching my real stamps. Printing them on the computer just isn’t the same. But…they are perfect for some instant gratification….”Must have new stamps now!” Your addition of the punched flowers is a fantastic touch!

I’m still keeping you in my prayers.
Andrea adds: Yes … if you have an urge for something new to use straight away … digis are a great option! Thanks for your lovely comment. Hugs xxaxx

Ha ha, I am totally confused. I thought I had made a comment on this card and asked which mum you were giving this to and you replied, but I couldn’t find my comment! Maybe I sent you an email? I am so forgetful….. Anyway,it is a super cute card!
Andrea adds: And … now I am totally confused, too … because I remember sending you a link (via email) to show you the card I had made for mum. But … I do remember you asking about who this was for … and I remember replying but it is not in the same email I sent! I wonder if it was a comment or an email?????? I thought it was a comment, too! Weird! 😯 Hugs xxaxx

So cute!!! Love how you have used the digi Andrea, with the punched flowers in front. & the embossing is divine. Perfect card for your m-i-l with the purple flowers. 🙂
The card from Jess is lovely too (ooh, more embossing – love it).
Andrea adds: A little “outside the square” for me … but still lotsa fun! Hugs xxaxx
