Hi there!
I just wanted to let you all know … I may be a little MIA over the next few days again! Dad had a fall at the nursing home this morning and has broken his hip! Sigh! I just feel sooooo sad for him in his confusion and pain! We have not yet heard exactly what treatment he will have but we are expecting that this will mean more surgery for him. Sadly that will mean that we are back at square 1! He will need a few days to come off his warfarin … surgery … recovery & rehab … AND … once again we will have to settle him into the nursing home. He had been there 3 weeks and was still struggling with confusion and loneliness. So … I will pop back asap … but … am not sure what will be happening over the next few days. Take care! Hugs xxaxx

Andrea, wishing your father a speedy recovery and I hope he settles into the nursing home better this next time. Look into any possible hobby groups he can join to assist him with making friends. My daughter works at a nursing home and the more able bodied blokes do woodwork. They make toys to sell to buy more materials so they can make more toys and small furniture items. Thoughts are with you and your family
Andrea adds: Thanks Kasey! We had plans to visit the nursing home at times that activities were on … to encourage him to participate. Sadly … I’m not confident we will have that opportunity! But … we keep hoping! Hugs xxaxx

OH Andrea, just when things were getting a little easier! Hoping your dad’s surgery is soon and he’s back on the mend. Not good that you’ll have to go through reacquainting him with the nursing home again. Prayers for you all. Cheers Donna Zammit
Andrea adds: The docs can’t even consider surgery while he is so sick with the pneumonia. There has been very little change over the last few days … so we are not sure what is ahead! Thanks for the prayers! Hugs xxaxx

Andrea,
We all understand that you need to take time for your family. Your poor Dad seems to be in the wars at the moment. I hope that all these changes to his med’s don’t upset him too much and that he is able to understand what is happening and why.
I am guessing that your Dad will end up convalesing at the same time as your mum, since her op is scheduled for next month too…. at least you’ll have had a little practice with your Dad, so you can be more confident with helping your Mum recover too! Trying to find a positive side to this for you!
Don’t forget to take five for yourself!
Cheers
Sonia
Andrea adds: I think that is mum’s worst fear at the moment … both having a hip op at the same time. She was talking about “postponing” … but I encouraged her to go ahead with the plans … she can always pull the plug later. But … at this stage … Dad is definitely not on the theatre list. He just wouldn’t survive the surgery. Thanks for the smile … you are a hunny! Hugs xxaxx
