Sending Warm Fuzzies!

Hello bloggies!

Here I am again … just like I promised! (This is my 2nd post for today … so make sure you scroll down and check out the beautiful cards I received in the mail today.)  Did you remember that I said yesterday that I wanted to try a new challenge? I have found this great challenge site (I think it was via Sandra’s blog or maybe it was Kasey’s?? or both!!! 😀 ) … and decided to play along. The Friday Mashup! challenge this week is to create a card that has “soft texture” and/or is a “Get Well” card. I decided to combine the two elements into the one card.  (Click challenge pic to visit blog!)  Here is my challenge entry

So … my “soft texture” is the faux silk technique that I have used on the main image panel. It does look like soft floaty silk … doesn’t it??? 😉 If you would like to kow how to get this “look” … I have included technique instructions on my card recipe at the end of the post. I did combine this Friday Mashup! Challenge with the latest Clean & Simple sketch. It is a GREAT sketch!

Well … it is another rainy, miserable day. I spent the morning taking my mum to the hospital for her pre-op visit … and then we went to visit Dad’s grave. Mum is keen to order the plaque and wanted some ideas for wording. We are gradually crossing off tasks that she needs to do before she goes into hospital on Monday. (More to do tomorrow!!! 😉  ) It is “State of Origin” Football tonight … and being the only Queensland supporter in a house full of New South Wales supporters … I might hibernate to my bedroom … with my laptop and do some overdue blog hopping in front of the footy! 😀 I have missed you all … and feel an overwhelming urge to visit! 🙂 On a cold, wet night … this sounds like a good plan … don’t you think??? See you tomorrow! Hugs xxaxx

PS: Don’t forget to scroll down to check out my other post for today. Lynda & Monika have sent me two gorgeous cards!!!

Added Friday 17th: Looky!! 😯 I just found out that I got the “Rock Star” award for this card over at The Friday Mashup! How excitement!!! (Click badge to visit blog!) I am itching to do some more stamping now! 🙂 Happy dancing my way over to my cardstock right now!!! xxaxx

Sorry hunni….but just like your card….I have to say GO THE BLUES!!!!! I guess there has to be the off toad south of the border….never wld have picked you as one tho!! 😉 Hubby and I will be dutifully screaming at the telly tonight…no doubt only sl warmer (but a lot drier) than those poor folk at the stadium tonight.
I so like this card…and you have met the qualities needed beautifully. I think I flatten my silk out too much as yours has so much mor texture than mine.
Glad too that you are ticking those things off the list. You are such a great support to ur mum, please give her a hug fm me and I wish her all the best for next week. Everything crossed for you. ooxx
Andrea adds: Here you are again! 😀 Always here to put a smile on my face. Yes … I was born in Brisbane … so I am NOT a “turn coat” like my dh who was born in Townsville (QLD)!!! If it was a straight QLD vs NSW match … I would be happy for him to support NSW … BUT … IT IS State of ORIGIN!!! To me “origin” means he should be going for QLD, too! My kids … all born in NSW are all true blues … but Gav … well …. ???? Hope you enjoy the game! Hugs xxaxx PS Did you see your card??? It is soooo beautiful! Hugs xxaxx

  3. That card is so pretty and certainly meets the brief. You’ve done a fab job. Don’t know how you and your Mum are facing the prospect of her surgery, you’ll need a relaxing holiday after all this.

Andrea adds: We are off to visit Gav’s sister & family in Vanuatu at the end of July … but I am not sure how relaxing that will be. Only a week … and they are there doing missionary work … so it is not going to be a “resort” type holiday! I am sooooooo hanging for a holiday … and we have a fav house down the coast that we would love to book for a couple of weeks … but just can’t get the $$$ to stretch at the moment! I hope we can sometime soon, though! We really do need a total relax. Hugs xxaxx

Love your card – so, so pretty! – and like your card, go the blues!!!! (I don’t really care who wins, but a NSW win tonight will make the 3rd game better…)
    Have a great night!

Andrea adds: Well … you got your wish Gabbi! NSW win!!! I’m glad I chose to sit upstairs on my bed … being the only QLD supporter in the house! 😉 Thanks for your lovely comment on my card! Hugs xxaxx

Andrea adds: LOL … we lost!!! Although … for the rest of the family … they won!!! But … it means the decider will be more interesting! 🙂 This is a really easy technique … so make sure you give it a go! You will be happy with the results! Hugs xxaxx
