For my Mum!

Added Thursday 23rd:  Oooh! Oooh! I just scraped in as the final entry for the JAI challenge with this card … and I was so thrilled when Sandra let me know I got a TOP PICK for the week!!!! 😀 😀 Now … that has certainly brightened my day! Thanks to all the JAI girls … you have no idea how this has cheered me up today! 😀

Hello bloggies!

I am off to visit my mum this afternoon … so I wanted to take the time to create something special for her. My brand new stamp set was sitting unmounted on my desk … and I was itching to play with it … so I just had to stop and put that together. I managed to do something that is sooooo mum! She does love a cuppa! 😀 I think some flowers will brighten her day … and make her smile, too!

I was keen to try stamping directly onto the Bashful Blue … even though I knew it wasn’t the best card for watercolouring. There is a tiny bit of “pilling” but I think I managed to keep it to a minimum … and it isn’t too obvious. Now … these are not colours that I use that often … but I am really taken with the Bashful Blue / Real Red combo … and think I will probably use this more frequently. Sometimes a combo just “grabs” you … doesn’t it! I imagine it might be a nice combo for a male card. (Tuck that away in my little brain!) 😉 I know mum will love these colours … she is a “blue” girl! The phrase tag is punched using the Decorative Label punch … glued to Real Red card … and then I carefully cut around to create the red border. This is a little tricky … getting all the curves even! 🙂

This card was a combo of two challenges … that I have been seeing around on my favourite blogs. The Just Add Ink Challenge is to “Just Add some Colouring In” … and the Paper Players Challenge was a Clean & Simple Sketch. I JUST HAD to play along! 😀 Make sure you pop by the challenge blogs to see the gorgeous Design Team samples! I also have to acknowledge a little help with the layout of the stamped images from Heather Klump. I am sure that others have done the same … but Heather’s was one that caught my eye over at Splitcoaststampers. It isn’t a direct CASE … but I always like to give credit where credit is due!

Now … before I go … I just HAVE TO share this amazing card that arrived in the mail yesterday. I saw this on Amy’s blog recently … little did I know it would be winging its way across the Tasman to me!!! 😯 I was so touched and so thrilled to receive such a gorgeous creation. Thanks Amy for your sweet thoughts & your lovely friendship!

Well … back to the grind … places to go … people to see … things to do!!! Hugs xxaxx

Hi Andrea… what a sweet card for Mum!! Sure to put a smile on her face… hope you enjoyed a cuppa this afternoon. I just had a warm cup of Chai tea myself. It’s the first day of summer here and we only had a high of 55 degrees. Very wet weather and NO sun to give us a smile. Love the card from Amy!! That was a surprise to find this beauty in the mail. Going to take more “looks” at your card posts… 🙂 SMILES!!!
Andrea adds: Hi Michelle … it has been cold & miserable here … too! It is so wonderful to see you after such a long time! 🙂 I hope you and your family are all a-okay! 🙂 Thanks for taking the time to say hi! You have brightened my day! Hugs xxaxx

What a gorgeous card for your Mum Andrea. I am sure she will really appreciate it and it will “perk” her right up!! I have never tried colouring directly on to normal cardstock – you have done a superb job! Thanks for playing at JAI this week, and I hope your Mum is feeling better real soon ♥
Andrea adds: Thanks Paula! It has been a stressful couple of weeks … actually a stressful 3 months to be honest … but my stamping keeps me sane!!! I enjoyed this challenge! Hugs xxaxx

    Lovely card. Great colours. 😉

What about that card from Amy – wow! – you must be honoured in receiving such a beauty! 🙂

Hope you had a lovely day visiting your mum & that she is improving.

    Cheers,
    ♥ Gabbi ♥
Andrea adds: I think Mum is probably not feeling as well as she was trying to pretend today. I know she doesn’t want me to worry with all I have going on with Skye … but she was a little “flat” this afternoon. (Totally understandable of course!) I do hope she doesn’t find the recovery too long and wearisome … as she really does need to relax and not have too many worries for a while. Aren’t I blessed with all the gorgeous cards that I have received. I am thinking I might do a slide show with all of them … so I have them all in the one place! Hugs xxaxx

What a lovely card, Andrea! You’ve coloured it in beautifully! I hope your Mum and Skye are both feeling a little better today. Unfortunatley with bones it takes a bit longer to heal.

That card from Amy is amazing! I’ve never seen one like that before. I’m off to have a look around her blog now 🙂

Oh yeah … thanks for playing along with the Paper Players again this week! It sure is good to see a familiar face (name LOL)
Andrea adds: Mum is doing okay … but was very quiet (unlike her) today! Skye is coping a little better … and it is nice to hear her laughing at the TV at the moment! I enjoyed the sketch … love clean & simple! Hugs xxaxx

Andrea your card for your mum is so quaint. I love the soft colouring directly onto the coloured CS. I have only ever watercoloured onto normal CS….so don’t know how “fabo” water colour paper is yet. I know how shocking! LOL Did you pop your kettle and cup next to it onto dimensionals….in your photo there appears to be a shadow so I was wondering. If not, then you are sure real good at shading!!!!!
    TFS Cheers Donna Zammit
Andrea adds: Oh … Donna! The SU! watercolour paper is absolutely fabulous. The inks spread so well … and blend so easily. Whisper White is a good back up … particularly if you really want WHITE! But … the coloured cardstock does “pill” a little easier … so you have to be really soft with your blender pen. I was pleased with the result, though! And … yes … the kettle & cup are on dimensionals! 😉 Hugs xxaxx

Andrea adds: MWAH … right back atcha! 😉 I had a giggle at your attempt at humour! Can I just add … for a comedian … you make a REALLY GREAT nurse!!! 😉 Yes … isn’t Amy’s card wonderful??? I am sooooooooo blessed! Hugs xxaxx

What a fabulous idea to color on Bashful Blue, it’s such a different look…I am definitely going to try it! I bet your mom loved it! You will have to tell her that the card is a winner just like she is!
Andrea adds: Hi Kim! It was just a random thought … to stamp on the Bashful Blue … but it seems that it was an idea that others have liked too! (Most importantly the JAI girls!) I am thrilled with the win! 😀 Hugs xxaxx

    Anyway take care Andrea!!
    Lots of hugs xxxx
Andrea adds: Yes! I quizzed her when she got off the phone … and all she would say was it was someone from NZ … and she wasn’t allowed to say any more!!! Very intriguing! So … it was fun to open up your box and work out the link with the weird phone call! Thanks for all the effort and care that went into getting this to me! 😀 You are such a sweetie! Hugs xxaxx
