CASE Study Anniversary Blog Hop

Hi bloggies!

I was dying to participate in the latest CASE Study challenge … as soon as I saw the details!!! 😀 What a fun challenge! This month is the CASE study challenge 1 year anniversary … and they have a fabulous BLOG HOP happening with almost all of their past & present “muses” contributing to the celebration. And … our challenge is to pick one of the “muses” and submit a card based on something they have created. Here is what we have to do … (taken from the CASE Study blog) …

YOUR INSPIRATION THIS WEEK WOULD COME FROM THE WORK OF ANY OF OUR DESIGNERS – PAST OR PRESENT … You’re not restricted to choose from the CASE Study samples – you’re welcome to choose any card, as long as it was made by our Teamie. You can browse through the past challenges to find something you fancy, or simply refer to the links on the sidebar, to go to the Designer’s blogs.

So … I knew immediately that I wanted to browse Teneale Williams’ blog. I am so in awe of Teneale’s talent. She has such a beautiful way of putting colours together … and her creations are simply stunning. Here is the card that I chose to use as my inspiration …

And … here is my CASE …

So … you can see it really is almost an identical CASE … except I chose different stamps. (I don’t have the easter set that Teneale used.) I was so taken by these colours … and I also learnt a couple of “tips” from this gorgeous card. Can you see how each of the “panels” are actually “double mounted”. The Baja Breeze panel, the Pear Pizzazz panel & the Very Vanilla panel are all cut x2 with the 2nd piece cut a couple of millimetres larger. The front panels are all sponged around the edges … but the slightly larger strip that they are glued onto aren’t sponged. This gives a really elegant effect to each of the panels on the card. I also realised that Teneale uses Crumb Cake ink alot for sponging … rather than the actual card colour … and this also gives an elegant “vintagey” look to the card. All the details can be found on my card recipe at the end of this post!

So … Make sure you pop over to the CASE study challenge blog … there are so many incredible designs to help get your mojo flowing!

GUESS WHAT!!! My mum has just phoned … and she is being sent home!!! After 7 1/2 weeks she is finally on her way home! I think I should be doing a happy dance … but after being told she needed to be there for at least another week to get some of these infections under control … I am concerned that because of a bed shortage … she is being sent home before she is ready. But … I need to trust that all will be okay … and I guess she can respond to antibiotics just as easily at home as she can in the hospital. Please pray that all will go smoothly … and there will be no further setbacks. I imagine I might be a little busy over the next few days … helping her out … so I am sure you will understand if I am a little MIA again. (Although, I have a couple of challenge cards ready … and they need to be posted before their deadlines … so hopefully I will make it back here again to do that.) Have a nice day! Hugs xxaxx

Andrea, love your card CASE from Teneale. Thanks for explaining about the double mounting technique that she uses….must give it a try! The colours go so well together. Great news about your mum. Hope all goes well with her. TFS Cheers Donna Zammit 🙂
Andrea adds: I am hoping that I saw the double layering correctly. It really does give a nice effect. Thanks for the lovely feedback! Hugs xxaxx

Hooray for your mom! I will pray that all goes well.

I find it amazing that someone as accomplished as you can still find things to learn!! But I also have to say that it takes someone with your eye to see the small things on Teneale’s card that made it special. Great CASE.
Andrea adds: What a beautiful compliment, Kim! And … very sweet … considering I am YOUR no. 1 fan! Hugs xxaxx

Andrea adds: Thanks Andrea! I am so glad that I did Teneale’s card justice. It was such a stunner … and fun to try and re-create! Congrats on the 1st birthday! I hope to play along more regularly once we get all our family crisies under control!!! 😉 Hugs xxaxx

  7. This is a gorgeous card Andrea. So elegant!

Glad to hear your Mum is well enough to come out of hospital. Hopefully all those infections will clear up quickly.

Thanks for a fun day on Monday. Sending your love and continued prayers!

    Jenny xxxxooo
Andrea adds: Thanks Jenny! I hope all the infections clear up quickly too. I hate to think “worst case scenario” (the hip will need to be taken out … rested … and re-done once the infection is gone!) … but I guess it is best NOT to think about that. 😀 I am so glad you could come round on Monday. I needed a stamping “pick me up”! Hugs xxaxx

I can’t begin to tell you how much I like this card – it is awesome. 😉 I have seen Teneale’s before & loved it, and now this is just as equally awesome!! 😯 That bow is just so pretty, and all the layers are lavish. So beautiful.
I would love to know if you put something on the inside of the card – because Teneale always does an equally grand effort on the inside of her cards – which I so admire. Sometimes I am so relieved that the front of a card is finished, that I forget the inside and matching envelope! 😦
I do hope your mum is doing OK – I can imagine she is nervous about being home after being in hospital for so long – and I can only imagine that she is still getting used to living by herself!? What a busy couple of months…. 😯
Look after yourself – I do pray that you have the strength to face each new day… and with the challenges that each brings…
Thanks for sharing this awesome card,
    ♥ Gabbi ♥
Andrea adds: Mum won’t be able to be on her own for a while yet … so even though there is light at the end of the tunnel … it is still going to be a long haul. As for the inside of the card … I have to admit that I don’t spend a huge amount of time on the inside. I always admire Teneale’s insides but … like you … I spend time on the front and then lose a bit of interest with the middle. I usually add a copy paper insert (like the shop bought cards) and hand stamp a phrase & some matching images … on this insert and on the envelope. I don’t tend to do a lot of layering or embellishing! Teneale’s cards are masterpieces … mine are simply the “print” versions! 😉 Hugs xxaxx

  10. I too love Tenealle’s cards, she seems to spend a huge amount of time on just one card but wow your card is just as inspiring as hers. Love the stamp set you used, sorry to see that one on the retiring list. Take care of you and your family.
    Lots of Love, Kathryn
Andrea adds: You made me feel so much better reminding me of the time Teneale spends on her cards!!! 😉 I am keen to try and put a bit more effort into my cards … but ONLY if time allows! Thanks for your lovely message! Hugs xxaxx

I am in love with both cards here and I couldn’t pick one that I like better… okay well maybe yours, cause I am not into Easter egg’s…. must put this one in the case file…. although it feels like I’ll never get a chance to do any stamping lately.
    Cheers
    Sonia
Andrea adds: I feel so sorry for you … sometimes days will go by when I am too busy to stamp but … somehow I try and find some moments. Hugs xxaxx
