Fresh Vintage Anniversary

Fresh Vintage S&J'12 (5)Hi bloggies!

Gav has taken this week off to spend some time with the kids (& me 😉 ). So … we have our week planned … and hope to do some fun stuff with Skye & Sandy. I might even find some time for stamping or blogging!??? Here is an anniversary card that I made for Stacey & Jono for their December anniversary (6 years). I was pleased with the CAS design.

Fresh Vintage S&J'12 (4)The embossed background is a little hard to see in the photos … but it is a pretty hearts one. (Not sure of supplier!) I used one of my old fav stamp sets “Fresh Vintage” & another newbie … the scroll stamp with matching die from Verve. What a pretty fresh finish! I punched the heart “hole” and stamped the image on some scrap card and punched it using the heart punch. Fresh Vintage S&J'12 (3)Then I trimmed very finely around the edge of the heart and sponged some ink around the edge. The trimming helped it to sit nicely within the heart ‘hole’ when the card is closed. The inside of the card had a background of the embossed hearts … and when I wrote the message inside … I did this on a die cut piece of white card that I attached on top.

Gabbi Dec'12I have been meaning to pop this card on my blog for awhile. It is one that I received from Gabbi to congratulate us on celebrating Sheree & Murray’s marriage. What a beautiful thought from a beautiful friend. Thanks so much Gabbi … it was so lovely to get this in the mail … just before the wedding!

Well … I have lots to share … things I have been making for friends/family … that I haven’t shown you yet. Finding the time is the hard thing. But … one of my New Year resolutions is not to stress about blogging. I am just going to do it as I find the time. Sometimes I wonder if it is actually all worth it … especially as I am not on any design team … am no longer a SU! demo. Really? With all those card blogs out in cyberspace with people much more talented and inspiring than me … is my blog just really some sort of self-gratification? There are other things much less trivial that I could be doing. Hhhhmmm … I am pondering! 🙂

PS: Just letting you know … our devoted, loyal Jack did finally pass away on Saturday. It was very sad … we had him for over 13 years … and he was the most beautifully natured dog. We will miss him. Cody & Holly (our other two dogs) are very quiet … and seem to want to hang around the house more. I guess they miss him too!

I love the cut out heart idea Andrea! Very pretty.

So sorry to hear of Jack’s passing. It’s hard to say to say goodbye to a loved pet. They feel like family.

I’m with you about the “no stressing about blogging” resolution. But I don’t think I could give it up completely. Yes, I am on a DT but I would miss all of my wonderful blogging friendships that I have made. I think blogging my cards pushes me a bit to improve my techniques and to come up with better designs. I for one, would miss you if you gave up blogging completely and I’m sure there would be lots of others too!!!

Andrea, I don’t blog but I always look forward to your email arriving. Am happy but sad to learn Jack has crossed the Rainbow Bridge–pets are so devoted. We are fortunate to have them in our lives.

Wishing you happier days in 2013.
    Hugs and smiles, R

Sorry to hear about Jack. We lost our dog this past July – she was 15 years old. Very hard to say goodbye.
Love your card. Absolutely beautiful. Love its softness.

So pretty, and what a great idea to cut out and put the heart inside with sponging, gives it depth. I love this card. Thanks for sharing. So sorry to hear Jack has passed on. Pets can be such a joy, and having them a long time is wonderful, but it’s still hard to let go. Please don’t disappear from the blog scene, you would be missed way too much. I/we need your inspiration! Hugs to you.

I LOVE your anniversary card – simply gorgeous! I love the colors, and the simplicity and the complexity … So much to look at 😉

We have bought our kids a dog for Christmas – it took us 3 years to get over the passing of our last dog. We weren’t brave enough to get a puppy, but were so lucky to find a 4 year old, well loved, well trained, golden Labrador. We have no regrets – she is beautiful!
I do hope that you can remember beautiful memories of your dog, and not miss him too much!

The wedding card that i made was fun playing – it turned out a little ‘bust-ier” than planned (LOL), but good fun….

    Cheer, Gabbi

a soft and pretty card, I love the heart cut out especially. Big hugs to you about Jack, its hard to lose a loved one – yep including our pets, and it hurts so bad, but that hurt only proves how much we truly loved them, my thoughts are with you all. On a happy note, I love your new blog look, so fresh and summery, xx
