Some Male Cards … Inspiration to Share!

Sail Away IL'13 & RH'13 (4)

Hi bloggies!

The days just seem to be flying past … don’t they!? Already it is August! The typical August winds were here yesterday … and the temperatures dropped again! It was like we had a sniff of spring … and then it was snuffed out again! Shane will be pleased … more snowfalls in the snowfields … he is off to the snow in a couple of weeks.

Sail Away IL'13 & RH'13 (5)I have a few MALE cards to share today. My photo file is getting overloaded … so I had better get some regular blogging done to catch up a bit!  😉  This first one I made for my nephew for his birthday and a double for my f-i-law for father’s day. (Sept ’13). I used markers to add layers of colour to the background … each strip was masked with masking tape. The inspiration for this card came from one I found on Splitcoaststampers by Jean Cross. I pinned it to Pinterest … you can find the link HERE!

My second card today … was done with a similar look but a different technique …

Sail Away CD'13 (2)

Sail Away CD'13 (1)This time the layered colours were added by colouring with markers directly onto the stamping block … and pressing the block onto the cardstock. I do LOVE this “Sail Away” (single) stamp from SU! It is so versatile … and a “keeper” for sure! The idea came from a similar card by NiKki Spencer that I found on Pinterest. You can find the original HERE! This card was for my b-i-law’s birthday last October!! I have a couple more MALE cards to share …

This card (above) was also based on a Pinterest card. It must seem like I don’t have a single original idea in my head … BUT … I do struggle a bit with male cards … so often find myself on Pinterest looking for ideas. I do apologise … but I am sure we have all had times where the mojo is a little underused and in need of a little help. This card was created by Debbie Henderson … link HERE! The next card is one I made for Shane’s birthday in January …….

B'day TD Dec'13

Shane does love his motor bike riding. The boys haven’t had a lot of time to ride lately. Why is life so busy? I guess it is the middle of soccer season … and with 2 matches every Saturday … weekends do tenD to be pretty busy. This is one CASE … that I definitely prefer the original design. The colours on mine here just don’t seem to work so well??? This design was inspired by Vicki Burdick … pin found HEREAnd … one last card for today ….

This is a clever double fold card with the banners overlapping to keep the card closed. I made this for a friend’s 5oth (last June) and more recently a double for an 80th card for a wonderful old friend. Another Pinterest inspired card by Sara Rayner … link HERE!

I have spoilt you all today … haven’t I!? Five different designs … I hope you enjoyed seeing them … and feel a little inspired even if my inspiration is “borrowed” from 5 other clever card makers!  🙂

Well … must fly … the boys are waiting to watch the footy and have requested my company!!! 😉 See you again soon.

If you would like to see the detail for any of these cards … click on each picture to enlarge! I will also add the PIN links for MY creations here to the end of this post … if you are interested in adding them to your pin boards. Hope you have a happy weekend. We have Seth’s 1st birthday party here tomorrow after church. Will be busy but happy! Can you believe it is a year (next Wednesday) since he was born!!!

Those strips of color are a fantastic backdrop. They are perfect for the sailboat – but I can picture other uses too AND have definitely filed your creative idea away for future inspiration!
