Hi again my friends!

I realised yesterday when I was trolling through my card photo files that I hadn’t shared any of the Christmas cards that I made for last Christmas! I did these in bulk … 4 of each … and followed a colour theme so I didn’t have to think too hard. Yes … I was pretty tight for time … so this was a good headstart to have colours sorted before I began. My first card uses the old faithful “Lovely as a Tree” stamp set. This is one of those all time classic SU! sets that never seems to age! I rarely see a LAAT card that doesn’t strike a chord with me. Definitely a favourite! It is a little hard to see … but there is some pretty sparkle on the trees! Inspiration: HERE!

This stamp was a ‘single’ that was a limited release stamp from SU! called “Wonderful Blessing”. It was the perfect stamp for this masked bauble card. I used a circle mask and stamped the image and softly sponged the edge with some Smokey Slate ink. A simple but really effective look. I do love the sparkled edge created with the glimmer paper. Must get myself some more before Christmas. I noticed that in the new catty there is a “Dazzling Diamonds” version of the glimmer paper. Am dying to see what that looks like! 🙂 Inspiration: HERE!

Another great single stamp from last year’s holiday catty called “O Holy Night”. I am a big fan of these large sentiment type stamps … and have already have my eye on several in the new annual catalogue … for various occasions. I have used the “chalk board” technique for this one. The sentiment is stamped and embossed with white embossing powder and then I have sponged some white craft ink over the Island Indigo card. The sparkly Christmas tree is a delicate die and I have cut it from more of the silver glimmer paper. The star border is an old stamp from my stash.

The colour theme for this set of cards was based on the pretty “Winter Frost” Specialty DSP from the SU! Holiday catty (2013-14). You can just see some of the foil accented paper peeking out from under the pinked edge of this card. It has a gorgeous sheen. And … I am such a sucker for Pool Party as a colour! I have never been a “blue” girl … but Pool Party is such a winner for me.

This was a super quick & easy card using a fabulous background stamp called “Snowfall Background Stamp by Amy Tedder” … it has the snow background and the banner space for a sentiment all in one stamp! I inked it using markers to give the “ombre” look. The snowflake is from the SU! “Festive Flurry” set with the matching Framelits. I do love this silver foil sheet that I used for the back snowflake … it is so easy to use with the framelits!

The snowflakes in the Festive Flurry stamp set are really pretty … and perfect to create a quick background for this next card. I added a sweet sentiment from the “More Merry Messages” stamp set. I also love the pretty silver ribbon that has been available the last couple of seasons! Of course … I just HAD to add some bling … I will never tire of the Rhinestone Jewels.

Another card using the “Winter Frost” DSP … and a cute sentiment (single) stamp from last year’s holiday catty … called “Merry Little Christmas”. I have embossed it with some white embossing powder. It does seem a little strange sometimes that we in Australia use wintery stamps for our Christmas cards when Christmas falls in the middle of our summer! I think we like to imagine what it must be like to have a ‘white Christmas’ … and indulge our fantasies by using the winter stamps! I must admit … my fantasy holiday is Christmas in New York! 🙂 The little bow is created using the “Dainty Bows” Dienamics Die from My Favourite Things. Inspiration: HERE!

Last, but not least … this stamp was from a cute little hostess set from last year’s SU! holiday catalogue … called “Warmth & Wonder”. I have seen so many fab ideas using this little tree … and am keen to use it again this year when I finally get around to starting my Christmas cards. (I really should do that soon!) The frame is hand drawn … and ‘rustic’. (That is code for “uneven & wriggly”!) It doesn’t really matter that the lines aren’t dead straight … it does add character to the card! 🙂 A few scattered sequins just add a little touch to finish off the card. Inspiration: HERE! (Apology … when I pinned this from a google search … I neglected to trace this card back to the original source. There is a watermark on the picture … but my eyesight isn’t up to reading it! … I am happy to acknowledge the original designer if someone could let me know who it is! — I always try to tag the original designer in my TAG list!)
Phew … this is another long post! And … lots of cards to check out! Hope it wasn’t all too much!? I guess you can always just flick through the pics and ignore the ramblings. Anyway … hopefully this has given you some inspiration as Christmas is fast approaching and many of us are starting to think about Christmas cards for the coming season. Well … off to bed to watch the Kookaburras in the gold medal match at the Commonwealth Games. Fingers crossed for another gold to match the girls’ gold medal. It is sad the games are coming to an end tomorrow … I have loved watching them over the last couple of weeks! Aussie Aussie Aussie Oi Oi Oi!!!!! 🙂 Til next time … Hugs xxx
