I have been a little frustrated … no internet for the last week!!! Yes … we ran out of downloads and were severely restricted because of the $$$ for the over usage! And … then … the new month for limits ticked over on the 4th & I haven’t had a chance to blog since then! But … finally … here I am!
I have seen a few examples of BOKEH cards around in blog land recently! I was a little intrigued as to where the term “Bokeh” came from and (as is my habit) I decided to ‘GOOGLE’ it to find out! Apparently it is a photographic technique! Here are a couple of photos I found online showing how it looks …
So … these pics do explain how this technique came about. I wonder who originally created the card making version? The cards that inspired these were from Dawn Woleslagle and Paula Dobson. There is a “how to” video in Dawn’s post. Anyway … I decided I just had to try this technique out … and was rather tickled with the results! This was my first attempt …
A pretty soft pink / mauve combination … using watercolour paints and Whisper White ink for the circles. The sentiment and banner are stamped with Versamark and embossed with “Heat & Stick” powder & (ret. SU!) fine pink glitter. The stamp sets for this card are SU! — Perfect Pennants & Gorgeous Grunge.

My second card was using a similar layout … this time in blues & greens … giving a pretty aqua look …
Stamp sets: SU! “Hearts a Flutter”, “Happy Anniversary” (ret. SU!) and the Verve “Plain Jane – Scroll” plus a tiny hint (flowers on the banner) of “Cottage Garden”. All the stamping is gold embossed. The background colours are done using watercolour paints.

And … my third sample … was inspired by Paula’s darker version.
I found this pretty sparkly silver washi tape at Kmart! It came in a pack with pink, too! It is really pretty IRL … although a little hard to tell in the photo! The stamp set is a brand new one from Taylored Expressions called “In the Word”. I love their choice of bible verses in this set! I am going to find it really useful. I bought a couple of sets & dies … including this gorgeous tag (set of 5 sizes) just a week or so ago. Imagine my surprise when the parcel arrived 7 days after I ordered them! All the way to Australia!!!
So … the kids have started arriving for Father’s Day dinner … so I had better go and be sociable! See you again soon! Hugs xxx
Beautiful cards.
Thanks for sharing the info about kmart and the time it took to receive your parcel – always handy to know.

What a beautiful trio! I’ve never seen one in darker colors and it’s lovely! I like how you kept the rest of the cards to a minimum so the bokeh shines through.
