No line Copic colouring

Hi again!

I hope you don’t mind if I just share some pics today …

Just a couple of comments …

I was trying some foiling (I am on my “learners”!) and used a very intricate stencil. There were a few flaws but because I had used some “watercolour” type foil I actually thought the combination gave a shabby chic look so I die cut the best of the foiling and managed to salvage it for this card.

I also tried some “no line” copic colouring … using a sand coloured momento ink instead of black. This gives a lovely soft look to the image … but I feel I need some practice colouring with DARK copics for this technique. It was tricky to get definition to the image.

But … in the end … the card was very pretty and I was semi-pleased with this attempt at 2 new techniques!

Hope you get to stamp today!

Sandy’s graduation day

Hi blog friends!

Has it really been over a month??? Really??? Life is just far too busy! Since the two girls have gone back to work after babies … and I have been minding kids across 3 days (not full days … 1 full day, 1 half day & before and after school on another) … I am finding blogging has been almost impossible! I am sorry! But … I will stop with the excuses and share a card ………… You may have seen this on instagram … but I finally got around to blogging it! 😀

I do have plenty of cards to share … even though regular card making has come to a halt recently. But … a couple of stamping days have helped replenish my dwindling card stash.

I hope you stopped for a moment to click on these photos … you will see each one enlarged and better detail of the colouring etc. I just L-O-V-E my Stamping Bella stamps … and am always happy with the result when I use them. Still on my “L” (learner) plates for colouring with Copics … but I am gradually getting there! I did heaps of colouring for some Christmas cards on a recent holiday week away with Sandy while he studied for his exams.

Illawarra Christian School – Tongarra Campus (small country school)

Yes … my baby has his final school exam tomorrow (chemistry) … and his schooling days will be over. It is bitter sweet for me. 26 years of being a school mum coming to an end. I am proud of all that all 5 kids have achieved and the lovely adults they have grown into. But … I am sad that a HUGE stage of my life is now over. Done! What am I going to do with myself??? (grin)

  • Simon Says Stamp – Sunshine Die
  • Copic markers

Take care everyone! Hugs xxx

Morning Cuppa!

Hi again!

One of my sweet delights in life is my morning cup of coffee. Not only did my dh (Gav) buy me a ‘u-beaut’ Nespresso coffee machine for Christmas 2 years ago … he also gets up every morning and brings me a cup of coffee in bed! Yes! He is DEFINITELY a KEEPER! 😉

So … I needed to send a card to a couple of people recently and thought … what better than a cuppa as a “pick-me-up”! I hope they got the link!!

The navy and red card backgrounds have been stamped with ‘confetti’ images using silver encore ink. The images are coloured with COPIC markers.

It has been another frantic week! I hope to catch up tomorrow with some replies to your kind comments. Hope you have a great weekend. Hugs xx

Birthday Blooms two ways

Birthday Blooms SU May16 (6)

Hi blog friends!

I am a little taken with the new-ish “Birthday Blooms” stamp set in the recent SU! catty. It is a super versatile little stamp set with a gorgeous flower that I have played with quite a bit lately! I actually think I bought this by mistake … but have definitely had fun with it.

So … I have done 2 identical cards using 2 different techniques.

Birthday Blooms SU May16 (1)

One is coloured with Copic markers and the other is done using watercolour paints.

Birthday Blooms SU May16 (2)

The Copic sample is stamped with black momento ink and finished with some pretty Clear Wink of Stella glitter.

Birthday Blooms SU May16 (7)

For the second card … the image is stamped with Versamark and heat embossed with white embossing powder onto SU! shimmer white cardstock. I made sure the card was quite wet to allow the paint to flow into each section of the flower. I also did a bit of a wash around the flower. I have added some Wink of Stella to this one too.

Birthday Blooms SU May16 (3)

Now … I was kinda desperate to play along with a challenge. It has been probably close to 2 years since I have done one. (It would be interesting to check back and see!) I do know that this is a bit of a stretch … but I thought the vellum scallop circlet sort of followed the latest Just Add Ink challenge wreath element???? A bit subjective … but I thought I would enter it for a little fun, anyway … cos that is what challenges are about — a bit of fun!! 😀

So … I think my favourite of the two is the soft, feminine watercoloured card … but the Copic card is also quite eye-catching and pretty too!

Birthday Blooms SU May16 (11)

Hope you are having a great day. Poor Shane is having a bit of drama today after ‘spraining’ his ankle at soccer just over a week ago. It seems now that the original X-rays were ‘crap’ … and what was diagnosed at the hospital as a sprain seems now to be a couple of fractures, bone fragments and a possible dislocation requiring surgery. He has been at the hospital (the one where he works this time) for most of the afternoon and evening today. Let’s hope he gets a proper diagnosis this time and the proper treatment, too! Hugs xxx

Added 12 Jul: Well … I did check back … and I have done 2 random challenges this year … but apart from those 2 I haven’t done any since October 2014. It has been a while since I have done regular challenges … that’s for sure! 😀

Where You’re Headed!

Where You're Headed (4)

Hello bloggies!

Well … we are gearing up for our BIG cruise … on the BRAND NEW … Ovation of the Seas.  Yes … Gav’s parents are so generously taking us on another holiday … this time to Asia! It has been almost 2 years since Gav & I have had a holiday so we are really hanging out for this one! We leave on the 9th to fly to Singapore to meet the Ovation on her maiden voyage from London to Beijing. We join the voyage in Singapore on the 12th. Poor Sandy & Shane have to stay behind … and work and go to school!!! I wish we could take them with us … BUT … we do have an exciting family holiday in January 2017 to look forward to!

I thought this was an appropriate card to share with you as we head towards our much anticipated and much needed holiday! 😀 ……..

Where You're Headed (1)

I actually made this one for a dear blogging friend’s daughter who had some major challenges late last year through to 2016! It is so good to know she is doing so well now! Sending out hugs and a big shout out to her & her mum! 😀

Another cutie pie Stamping Bella Tiny Townie! Must have another play soon! 😉 I like the different size of this card too! The image is coloured with COPICS.

So … as I prepare for our trip … I am also adding some scheduled posts to my blog. I hope they come through ok while I am away.

Pretty Birthday Blooms

Birthday Blooms Occ2016 (5)

Hello again!

Ha Ha! I am a little afraid to show you this card! I was actually a bit chuffed with the result until I looked again at the card that was the inspiration for this one! Then I had to laugh! I still have a lot to learn when it comes to watercolouring!!! 😀 😉

Birthday Blooms Occ2016 (1)

So the stamping is done with a light coloured stazon ink. I used Momento “Desert Sand”. I think I needed to add a bit more water to the card to give the painting a bit more of a washed look. The colours just aren’t ‘flowing’ into each other enough.

I think I might try this same card again sometime … and see if I can improve on the watercolouring! If you do go and check out the original inspiration … and believe me it is worth checking out … please don’t laugh! Promise me!?
