Happiness is stamping with friends!

Sending lots of colour your way.

Hi bloggies!

Just a quick little card today … lots of colour … but sweetly simple …

We have a big cleanup going on at our place today. All the boys are here! (And the rest of the family too!) Imagine … a big 3 space shed plus another smallish lean to shed. Imagine … timber off cuts and tools … mowers and motor bikes … a ramp to ride bikes into the dam … a camper trailer … a rubbish heap … ski boots … fencing wire … a chook pen hidden by lantana … and the list goes on! We have to move out early next year for the next stage of development around our farm. So … we need to do a big clean up before we go. Then when we come back (2 yrs later and 97.5 acres smaller) … we can start planning for our new house. Sigh … we have been waiting for over 12 years … and it is still probably another 3 years before we finish and occupy our “dream” home. I can only take comfort in the fact that God’s plans are best and His timing is perfect.

  • Simon Says Stamp – Best Ever Stamp set
  • Doodlebug – Fairytales paper
  • Copic Markers

Anyway … I had better go …

Hope you have a happy weekend! I’m sending lots of colour your way.

Hang in there!

Hi bloggies!

I made some cards recently to encourage some year 12 friends who began their final exams yesterday. It took a couple of nights in front of the TV to colour them all (12 in total) … but it was very therapeutic! 🙂

So … all the images are COPIC coloured and the backgrounds are done with Distress Oxide Inks sponged over a stencil. Yes … it all took ages … 😁 … but worth it in the end.

I used a white gel pen to add details to the images. Totally unnecessary … but it does add a nice effect. And … after all … I needed to give myself more to do! 😉

  • Clearly Besotted Stamps – Cheeky Monkey (+ dies)
  • Tiddly Inks – Hang in There (no dies – fussy cut!)
  • CC Designs: Swiss Pixies – Field Fence
  • My Favorite Things stamps – Cascading Scallops stencil

My quick trip to Q’ld was so worthwhile and the funeral was very special. I am so glad I made the effort. I am hoping for a quiet day tomorrow … perhaps even do some stamping … but don’t worry … I still have heaps to share!

Hope you get to Stamp tomorrow too!

Under the Sea

Hi bloggies!

I have had a project going lately … to fill up my stash with some encouragement cards … so you will be seeing a few over the next few weeks. You won’t believe it … but I have nearly finished my Christmas cards too!! So … plenty to share! 😃. Now just need to find the time to blog!!

I fossicked around in my goodies and found my metallic gelatos and thought they would be perfect for colouring this fab Stamping Bella background image. They worked beautifully! I used Copics for the images and some distress Oxide ink to add colour to the sea weed die cuts.

With an unexpected trip to Queensland this week … it is going to be tricky juggling all that is in my calendar. Yep … last week quiet … next week quiet … but the week I have to go interstate I have a week of something on EVERY day … AND EVERY night. But …. it will happen! 🙃

  • Faber Castell Metallic Watercolor Gelatos
  • Taylored Expressions – Under the Sea stamps & dies.
  • Taylored Expressions – In the Word
  • Stamping Bella – Under the Sea Backdrop

Hope your week is a little quieter than mine!

Grand Final Champions!

FullSizeRender 6

Hi bloggies!

Well … much to everyone’s surprise except the loyal fans … who knew what Port Kembla was capable of and their proud history … Sandy’s football team WON the grand final on Sept 24!!

We managed to keep the highest scoring team in the IPL comp and 1st div minor premiers to a 0-0 draw after 90 mins game time plus 30 minutes extra time plus injury time … and so the result was decided by penalties! Not how you like to win a grand final … BUT … it was a tough slog keeping the pressure on for 120+ mins and I feel the better team on the day did win!

Poor Sandy started the game with a hamstring injury that he had seen the Physio about in the week leading up to the game. He had chances and was making an impact but … even though he pushed through the pain for about 70 mins … he ended up having to sub off injured. He was frustrated but he did so well and we were proud of his efforts. A championship medal helped make up for the disappointment of not playing a full game.

Please don’t feel you have to click these links (below) … I just wanted to store them here with the story for my own info … scroll down for today’s card …

Anyway … I just wanted to share the excitement with my blog pals. I hope you will forgive me for the moment of self indulgence! I also wanted to share the card I made for Sandy for reaching the grand final. I wanted to recognise this achievement no matter what the result.

  • Stamping Bella – Nacho
  • Simon Says Stamp – Like a Champion (+ dies available)
  • Lawn Fawn – Gleeful Gardens (+ dies available)
  • Zig Clean Color Real Brush Markers
  • Distress Oxide Inks

Hope you have a great weekend. I hope to be back soon to share some of Shane and Stacey’s wedding photos … yes … the formal photos are finally ready!

Happy Hedgehogs

Hi bloggies!

Today I have a new purchase to share. It has been nice having a little spending money after selling most of my destash boxes … aNd … I can spend without feeling guilty. I couldn’t resist this adorable set.

The main image was a combo of a few of the stamps and I masked off images as I created the scene. Some more copic colouring and a little ink sponging completed the image panel.

The background is created using some Nuvo Embellishment paste and a stencil. This paste has a gorgeous pearly metallic look finish and dries quite quickly. I also used some old (stash) of SU! sequins to finish the card off.

  • My Favorite Things stamps – Happy Hedgehogs
  • Stampin’ Up! – Pattern Party Decorative masks

Happy stamping

Kool Kat – Cowabunga Dude

Hi bloggies!

Cowabunga Dude! Isn’t this the cheekiest little cat! I love the expression of joy on his face and imagine this is how all the boys in my family felt when they were skiing in Canada earlier this year! (And how Sandy feels when he catches the perfect wave!) 😀

This is a pretty simple card. The image is coloured with Zig Clean Color Real Brush Markers and I added some clear Wink of Stella shimmer all over the top – yes – all over!! 😳 The Zigs react with the Wink of Stella to give a soft and sparkly watercolour look.

The front card panel is popped up with fun foam with some blue stripy paper to frame it. The sentiment is from a set that I have had in my stash for ages … no packaging … so no name … sorry!!

See you again soon

Galaxy Background

Hi bloggies!

A few days ago I shared a card that was meant to be a “galaxy” background but didn’t quite make it … (you can see it HERE) … well – this is the card (above) I was planning to do originally!

This is my first attempt at a “galaxy” technique and I have to admit that I think there is room for improvement! 😉 I actually think this may be one technique that has a better result using the Tim Holtz Distress Inks (which I don’t own) rather than the DistressOxide inks that I used for this card. I am happy with the result but the DO inks create a softer more” chalky” look rather than a deep, dark night sky that can be achieved using the original Distress Inks or other similar dye inks. I think I might try it again sometime using some dye links with a nice intense black.

Anyway, I think this image is perfect for the card and helped to make the galaxy background work even though it wasn’t the best result. I did end up flicking some Finetec iridescent watercolour paints onto the card background. This is a really pretty metallic look paint that really adds some gorgeous sparkle and pearly colour. I think it actually lifted the look of the galaxy … what do you think?

  • Honey Bee Partly Cloudy die

Until next time – have fun creating!

Foiled Father’s Day card

Hi bloggies!

I had some fun recently trying out some foiling with my laminator. I only bought a cheap laminator from Office works and was pleasantly surprised at how well it works.

I have used the Stampin’ up! “Pattern Party Decorative Masks” – brick stencil with some Thermo Web Deco Foil Gel and randomly spread the gel over the stencil without taking it right to the edges to give an uneven brickwork look: This gel is like an adhesive for the foil and when it is put through the laminator the heat sets the foil onto the card. Magic! It is such a striking effect!

Love, love this stinkin’ cute dragon stamp from Whimsy Stamps called Bart Goes Golfing.  It was perfect for a Fathers Day card for my hubby’s Dad who loves to play golf. I had lots of fun creating this card and was thrilled with the end result.

Just wanted to share a little family excitement …. Sandy has been playing 1st grade soccer ⚽️ (ooops … “football”) for the Illawarra Premier League for the last two years and his team just scraped into the finals this year in 5th place. They have since played 3 elimination finals against the 4th, 2nd & 3rd placed teams and won! So … they are into the Grand Final on Sunday against all odds! 😀 They are completely the underdogs … but anything can happen. It certainly is a bit of a big deal with a grand final launch dinner last night with local media and a team briefing & lunch on Sunday at the sponsor club and even a team bus to take them to the game! Win or lose … there will also be a family & friends & team dinner at the club on Sunday night. We are excited for Sandy (no. 11) … the youngest on the team … and it is a thrill to see him enjoying his football so much! ⚫️ #weare black ⚪️ #wearewhite #PKFC  … Port Kembla FC
