Happiness is stamping with friends!

Happy Hedgehogs & Balloons

Hi blog friends!

I hope you have been enjoying my recent posts with some of my recent creations. It has been fun playing with some new goodies lately. I am trying to find some time to do some blog hopping and catch up with some long time blog friends but at the end of each day I have to SIGH and say “maybe tomorrow”?? Such is life at the moment!

My card today is not actually a card but is a sign. After a long time resisting requests from my DH, I finally gave him a stack of handmade cards to sell in two of the pharmacies that he works at. He suggested I make up a sign to display with them because he thinks my cards look like” bought” cards and he wants customers to know they are actually handmade!!! Isn’t he just the cutest?! And always so encouraging! Anyway… this is the “sign” I came up with…

This was very simple copic colouring on die cut letters with some glossy accents over the top. DH thought it was great! My no. 2 fan! (No. 1 is my blog friend Lynda who never fails to encourage and has done so for many years!) Shout out to Lynda! 😃👏🏼👋

Bubble Chicks

Hi bloggies!

Here is the 3rd of 3 background experiments that I tried recently using my distress oxide inks. This was supposed to be a galaxy background… BUT … I made a mistake of wetting the sponged ink background with shimmer spray instead of just water!! The colours merged beautifully with this gorgeous sparkly shimmer on top and I just couldn’t bring myself to sponge black ink over the top! The galaxy background will have to wait until another day!

How super cute is this stamp set?! I had a quick look around online for a COPIC tutorial for colouring bubbles and was pretty happy with the result. A bit of Wink of Stella helps them to sparkle and look really pretty.

It is a little hard to see the background under the acetate window … but … trust me … it is super gorgeous! 😉

Tiny Townies Mermaid

I have enjoyed a couple of Saturdays up at Robertson recently at Mel’s Camp Papercraft. Last month my sis came with me and we played with my Distress oxide Inks. She loved them so much she bought some of her own! My last post was the 1st of 3 Distress oxide backgrounds that we tried…..

Today’s is the second ……

I have sponged some inks onto white card then used some shimmer spray to spritz all over a wave stencil and then pressed the wet side of the stencil down onto the card. The Distress Oxide ink reacts with the water and a shimmer impression of the stencil is left. (You can use ordinary water if you don’t want the shimmer look.) I loved this effect and will be trying it again for sure!

Once I had created this background I knew I had to use my new mermaid stamp set to finish off the card. I had lots of fun colouring these images and was really happy with the finished card.

Pizza My Heart

Hello bloggies!

I get a lot of inspiration for my cards from YouTube and have several favourite card makers that I follow. Amy R (Prairie Paper & Ink) often creates her own backgrounds with repeat image stamping and often watercolours the images. I thought I would give this idea a try!

Sometimes Amy heat embosses the image which is a good way to “contain” the watercolour within part of the image but she has discovered that stamping with some inks (eg. Simon says Stamp “Barely Beige”) also “traps” the paint in parts of the image. This gives a “no line” kind of look to the water colouring!!

Today’s card makes me smile! Hope it did for you too!:)

Happily Ever After

Hi again!

I am usually pretty organised when it comes to making cards. I have all my important events listed in my diary and as I make a card I tick it off. I had my card for Shane & Stacey’s wedding done well in advance but a couple of days before the wedding, Sandy asked if I could make one for him to give them! Nothing like last minute!! I guess he thought that being best man for his big brother meant he should do something extra special for them! Here’s what I came up with …..

Sandy was very impressed with the result and for a last minute card – I was too! 😊

  • Sunny Studio – Fishtail Banner 11 Snippets Die
  • My Favorite Things – Tiny Hearts Pastels paper

It is much quieter around here since Shane left. I miss him … but I am so happy that he has found his perfect match! You can read about their special day HERE.

See you again soon.

Penguin Anniversary

Hi bloggies!

I couldn’t resist buying this pretty “Falling In Love” DSP from Leonie (SU!) when it was available. I don’t tend to use a lot of patterned paper on my cards of late but I was keen to use some of this gorgeous paper for this card. Because it was a love themed paper, I decided to make an anniversary card.

I did add a “25” in glitter paper after I took these photos because I wanted to use this for a friend who is a mad penguin fan and is celebrating her 25th anniversary later this year. Ssshh! Don’t tell her! 😉😀

We have had a pretty mild winter this year but I am still happy that spring is here and the days are getting longer and a little warmer.

Take care… See you soon…

Mermaid Kit

Hello friends!

I managed to get my hands on the May card kit from Hero Arts. It was a fabulous kit that included a sweet mermaid stamp set plus matching dies, a great wave stencil, some gorgeous papers, 3 mini ink cubes, some irridescent silk “liquid ink” and some gorgeous sequins. It was great value. I also bought an “add-on” stamp set called “Mermazing Messages”. I had fun using a lot of the kit elements for this card!

Happy Bee Day

Hi bloggies!

Today’s card was a sweet project for my gorgeous little Peyton (grand-daughter) who turned 2 in June. She brings so much joy and sunshine to our lives!

I had some fun with some sponged ink stencilling with this one. I created my own stencil with some circle dies … to look like bubbles. And … of course … more COPIC colouring! I love my copics! I also added a sweet little shaker element … using a heart die for the shape. Sweetness plus! 😉😀

  • Copic markers.

Hope your day is full of joy.
