Sending lots of colour your way.

Hi bloggies!

Just a quick little card today … lots of colour … but sweetly simple …

We have a big cleanup going on at our place today. All the boys are here! (And the rest of the family too!) Imagine … a big 3 space shed plus another smallish lean to shed. Imagine … timber off cuts and tools … mowers and motor bikes … a ramp to ride bikes into the dam … a camper trailer … a rubbish heap … ski boots … fencing wire … a chook pen hidden by lantana … and the list goes on! We have to move out early next year for the next stage of development around our farm. So … we need to do a big clean up before we go. Then when we come back (2 yrs later and 97.5 acres smaller) … we can start planning for our new house. Sigh … we have been waiting for over 12 years … and it is still probably another 3 years before we finish and occupy our “dream” home. I can only take comfort in the fact that God’s plans are best and His timing is perfect.

Anyway … I had better go …

Hope you have a happy weekend! I’m sending lots of colour your way.

Grand Final Champions!

FullSizeRender 6

Hi bloggies!

Well … much to everyone’s surprise except the loyal fans … who knew what Port Kembla was capable of and their proud history … Sandy’s football team WON the grand final on Sept 24!!

We managed to keep the highest scoring team in the IPL comp and 1st div minor premiers to a 0-0 draw after 90 mins game time plus 30 minutes extra time plus injury time … and so the result was decided by penalties! Not how you like to win a grand final … BUT … it was a tough slog keeping the pressure on for 120+ mins and I feel the better team on the day did win!

Poor Sandy started the game with a hamstring injury that he had seen the Physio about in the week leading up to the game. He had chances and was making an impact but … even though he pushed through the pain for about 70 mins … he ended up having to sub off injured. He was frustrated but he did so well and we were proud of his efforts. A championship medal helped make up for the disappointment of not playing a full game.

Please don’t feel you have to click these links (below) … I just wanted to store them here with the story for my own info … scroll down for today’s card …

Anyway … I just wanted to share the excitement with my blog pals. I hope you will forgive me for the moment of self indulgence! I also wanted to share the card I made for Sandy for reaching the grand final. I wanted to recognise this achievement no matter what the result.

Foiled Father’s Day card

Hi bloggies!

I had some fun recently trying out some foiling with my laminator. I only bought a cheap laminator from Office works and was pleasantly surprised at how well it works.

I have used the Stampin’ up! “Pattern Party Decorative Masks” – brick stencil with some Thermo Web Deco Foil Gel and randomly spread the gel over the stencil without taking it right to the edges to give an uneven brickwork look: This gel is like an adhesive for the foil and when it is put through the laminator the heat sets the foil onto the card. Magic! It is such a striking effect!

Love, love this stinkin’ cute dragon stamp from Whimsy Stamps called Bart Goes Golfing.  It was perfect for a Fathers Day card for my hubby’s Dad who loves to play golf. I had lots of fun creating this card and was thrilled with the end result.

Just wanted to share a little family excitement …. Sandy has been playing 1st grade soccer ⚽️ (ooops … “football”) for the Illawarra Premier League for the last two years and his team just scraped into the finals this year in 5th place. They have since played 3 elimination finals against the 4th, 2nd & 3rd placed teams and won! So … they are into the Grand Final on Sunday against all odds! 😀 They are completely the underdogs … but anything can happen. It certainly is a bit of a big deal with a grand final launch dinner last night with local media and a team briefing & lunch on Sunday at the sponsor club and even a team bus to take them to the game! Win or lose … there will also be a family & friends & team dinner at the club on Sunday night. We are excited for Sandy (no. 11) … the youngest on the team … and it is a thrill to see him enjoying his football so much! ⚫️ #weare black ⚪️ #wearewhite #PKFC  … Port Kembla FC

These photos were taken at last week’s preliminary final … for a place in the grand final! Yay!

Hope you have a wonderful day.

Shane & Stacey’s Special Day!

Hi my friends!

Saturday was a wonderful day of celebrating for us as a family! Our son Shane was married to his gorgeous bride, Stacey. (Yes … We now have TWO Staceys in our immediate family!) We are so thrilled to see Shane & Stacey married and starting their own family and the wedding was an amazingly joyful event with lots of beautiful memories. I don’t have too many photos to share … But will add some more when we have them edited and when the formal ones arrive.

I wanted to share a little “crafty” project I did for the amazing DONUT WALL that was part of the celebrations! We had an afternoon tea at the church before moving onto the formal reception at the Woolshed at Yallah. This simple idea was a HUGE HIT with the guests!

Stacey’s dad painted the boards in a metallic rose gold … I did the rest of the decorating with ivy, flowers, candles … And a few handmade items … Please click on photos – you will see them in much better detail!

The donuts were hung to spell L-O-VE and we had some yummy donut holes (cinnamon sugar donut balls) in glass jars too! Shane & Stace were thrilled with the result.

I hand painted all the canvases (30x30cm) … the sentiments were found via Google! The smaller wooden signs were done simply with white chalk markers.

uptown-couple-brett-brenda-get-married-sb-apr16-8Oh … and the card I made for them I did quite some time ago and tucked it away for someone special! You can see it HERE! (I did recolour the suit to be navy — to match Shane’s suit — this worked out perfectly even though it was over the top of the gray!) And I gave them the “pink” version … because pink was one of their theme colours.

Hope your weekend was as happy and as special as ours! Hugs xxx

Hi Bloggies!

71e9351b32c01c76f6148ad5e272086f10th Blogging year!!!

It suddenly occurred to me that I have reached my 10th year of blogging here at “EnchantINK” … wowsers!!! Really???? 😯 That means that I have some friends out in BLOGLAND who have been my friends for almost 10 years! I am soooo thankful for the special friends I have made through blogging about a common interest … card making and papercraft! Thank you so much for your support! I know I have been a bit quiet lately … but I am still passionate about card making … I am just finding it a little difficult at the moment to spend the time blogging. But … I would love to be more active here. I hope to make it happen more.

Some interesting stats for the last 10 years …..

  • 150 followers (currently)
  • 1,614 posts
  • top post – My twin sister’s 50th birthday (899 views)
  • top commenters – LYNDA!!!, Vicki, Monika, Reva, Jenny H

Anyway, enough reminiscing!

Some news … I am moving house!!!

It is just a temporary move while the site works for the development around our home are being done.  It has been almost 14 years since this development was first discussed and it has truly been such a long wait for it to happen. We have been living in limbo land for all that time!

The view from my swing seat

But … the beginning of the end is finally here! We will be in rental accommodation for about 18 months and then we can return to our home and start building our new house on our much reduced land (100 acres down to 2 1/2 acres). Once the new house is finished (about 12 months) we will finally be able to move in and our old home will be demolished. It still feels like it will never be a reality. There have been so many delays and complications (all out of our hands … we are just one of 12 landowners involved). But … there is some light at the end of the tunnel now.

Clearance Sale!!!

Anyway … that was a long involved way of saying … I NEED TO CULL MY CRAFT STASH ... in order to fit my craft stuff in my rental apartment. I CANNOT take it all with me!!!! So … I am hoping my blog buddies will be able to help me pass the word around or purchase some goodies for themselves. I have craft packs for sale … at ridiculously cheap prices. You can find all the details here … (click banner)

Thanks so much for your help! Hugs xxx

My little princess turns 5!

Blossom Loves Balloons SB Feb16 (8)

Hello again bloggies!

It was such a delight to be able to share another birthday this past week with my precious no. 1 grand-daughter, Bree. She turned 5 … and all of a sudden seems so grown up! Lynda!!! Can you believe this??? It always makes me smile that on Sandy’s birthday (5 years ago) we were at Hogs Breath restaurant celebrating when Stace discovered it was all happening! 🙂 So … it was funny that all Bree wanted for dinner Thursday night for her birthday was “curly fries” from Hogs Breath! Go figure! 😀

Blossom Loves Balloons SB Feb16 (12)

This darling little card has so much love poured into it. I tried out a new background technique … did some gorgeous colouring of a sweet Tiny Townies image. I loved playing around with something really pretty for a sweet little 5 year old!

Blossom Loves Balloons SB Feb16 (11)

I think you can see the gorgeous shimmer on the card base (in the picture above) … it is the SU! white shimmer card which works so well for watercolouring. I thought I would show you how I made the background … I used quite a bit of water to wash the background inks together … but not too much because I wanted a good depth of colour.

And … here are a few more photos showing some more details ….

Note: The card without the “5” was the one I gave to my sis for her birthday. Yes … I always try to make 2 of each card. So … my twin got this sweetie too! Not too kiddie for a g’ma??? I hope not! 😉

Bree Melissa Apr16

And … here is the little princess looking all gorgeous and sweet! She has the most sunshiny, bubbly personality. I hardly ever see her without a smile on her face. She brings us so much joy. I wish you could have one just the same! 😀 Oh … and also … she LOVES to create! Perhaps it has skipped a generation … because none of my girls are particularly interested!!! ???

images AnzacWe celebrated ANZAC day this morning with a 4:30am start at the ceremony at Albion Park RSL. Sandy had to be there to represent the school as school captain at the dawn service. He was not impressed to be up that early … but it is always worth it … the service is always moving and it is good for us to take the time to remember those who lost their lives fighting for our country at Gallipoli in 1915. I can’t believe it is a year since we went to the CENTENARY dawn service in Wollongong last year!! REALLY??? Well … I have been a little ‘chatty’ this time! But … need to get going now. Hugs xxx

A milestone!

Number of Years SU! Balloon Feb16 (4)

Well bloggies … I have a milestone to share. One that is quite bittersweet!

On Wednesday my baby turned 18!

That means that ‘officially’ … my ‘mothering’ days are over. I am now the mum of 5 adult children. (That’s a bit of an oxy-moron … “adult – children”!!) So … I am actually feeling a little nostalgic as I also spent time at my grand daughter’s 5th birthday the day after Sandy’s 18th and realised that the innocent excitement of childhood birthdays are now a thing of the past for me! (Apart from sharing in my grandchildrens’ birthdays of course!)

Sandy – Jan ’16 – UOW

I am sad! Don’t get me wrong … I am quite content not to be back where my daughters are with new babies! 😀 but … I am also feeling a little sad at the thought that I have moved into a new stage of life. I know … I am being silly … but it is quite the milestone … don’t you think??? But … instead of wallowing in self-pity … I will share a card! This is Sandy’s 18th birthday card ………

Number of Years SU! Balloon Feb16 (1)

I made this at Leonie’s at our last weekend retreat. It was fun to play with some of her goodies (including this stunning DSP) … and I do so love this balloon die! (Might have to get me one!) I did buy the large number dies after playing with them for this card.

Sandy still has to get through his last year of school … and do his final exams. He will be at home (I feel) for many years to come … hey … his brother is 10 years older and is still here! It is too expensive to do uni out on your own now! So … perhaps I am not quite redundant yet!??? 😉

I was going to add the details here … but realised that there is no stamping on this card!

Watercolour Trending

Helping Me Grow SU! Feb16 (8)

Hi bloggies!

Have you noticed lately around the card making community that there is a current trend for watercolouring … and not just the usual colour with markers or ink and blend with aqua painter / blender pen. Card makers are trying all sorts of washes, hand lettering and effects. I have watched a few videos and have been practicing a little here and there! I can tell you … these girls are clever! It is NOT as easy as it looks. 🙂

This was a card I saw on Kristina Werner’s blog … yes … I subscribe … I love her STUFF and she is responsible for me spending far too much money at the Simon Says Stamp online shop!

I did my watercolouring on the SU! white shimmer card … which is so fantastic for watercolouring. No pilling of the paper at all. I also added some Wink of Stella shimmer pen to the flowers. The back ground has a watercolour wash over it … and the flowers (from a SU! set from the current Occasions Catalogue that I played with at Leonie’s) are heat embossed with white embossing powder and more ink added. I used a paint brush and ink from the stamp pad. I actually was kinda happy with the result – especially for my first attempt of this type of watercolouring . And … I have since bought the stamp set that Kristina used for her sample. You should check out her video tutorial … it is brilliant!
