Shane & Stacey’s Special Day!

Hi my friends!

Saturday was a wonderful day of celebrating for us as a family! Our son Shane was married to his gorgeous bride, Stacey. (Yes … We now have TWO Staceys in our immediate family!) We are so thrilled to see Shane & Stacey married and starting their own family and the wedding was an amazingly joyful event with lots of beautiful memories. I don’t have too many photos to share … But will add some more when we have them edited and when the formal ones arrive.

I wanted to share a little “crafty” project I did for the amazing DONUT WALL that was part of the celebrations! We had an afternoon tea at the church before moving onto the formal reception at the Woolshed at Yallah. This simple idea was a HUGE HIT with the guests!

Stacey’s dad painted the boards in a metallic rose gold … I did the rest of the decorating with ivy, flowers, candles … And a few handmade items … Please click on photos – you will see them in much better detail!

The donuts were hung to spell L-O-VE and we had some yummy donut holes (cinnamon sugar donut balls) in glass jars too! Shane & Stace were thrilled with the result.

I hand painted all the canvases (30x30cm) … the sentiments were found via Google! The smaller wooden signs were done simply with white chalk markers.

uptown-couple-brett-brenda-get-married-sb-apr16-8Oh … and the card I made for them I did quite some time ago and tucked it away for someone special! You can see it HERE! (I did recolour the suit to be navy — to match Shane’s suit — this worked out perfectly even though it was over the top of the gray!) And I gave them the “pink” version … because pink was one of their theme colours.

Hope your weekend was as happy and as special as ours! Hugs xxx

Sending Sunshine

Hi bloggies!

I am still feeling my way with my “Zig Clean Real Brush Markers” (watercolour pens). Even though all the YouTube videos make them look so easy … I am convinced it does take a little time to understand how they work best. I am sure that it won’t be long to get the hang of them … and already I am impressed with the different ‘looks’ that you can achieve. One thing that is for sure … the colours are super vibrant … and easy to blend.

I have bought some better quality watercolour paper since making these tags. The colours have blended reasonably well but some of the tutorials have mentioned that better card gives a better blend … so I am keen to try that asap!

The flourish background images have been heat embossed with clear embossing powder. The sentiment die is a super gorgeous one from Papertrey Ink who have a few of these “Big” sentiment dies. I love it … and MUST get some more! The die cut is white glitter paper with a ‘shadow’ created by cutting a dark grey die piece and slightly offsetting it against the white. This shadow definitely made the sentiment die cut ‘pop’ off the background. Can you see the sparkle on the flouishes? I added a little ‘wink of stella’ clear glitter over the top of all the images! Took a little while … but did add something a little special! Sorry the photo doesn’t really show how pretty it is!

Click pics to view!

This was a set of tag gift cards that I made for Sandy to attach to farewell/thank you gifts for our school office angels when he left school on his graduation day.

Sandy’s Year 12 formal is on tomorrow night … so I will add some photos as soon as I get a chance. I am sure it will be an emotional night … the end of an era — 26 years of schooling. I am so proud of the lovely young man he has become and I am sure it will be a great night of reminiscing and excited anticipation of the future! Be back soon … I hope. Hugs xxx

A Cute Bookmark

TE In Other Words - Read KL Sept14 (4)Hi bloggies!

I have recently bought some new goodies from Taylored Expressions. I saw some cute bookmarks online and went searching for the die and stamp set.  I just HAD to have them. 😉

TE In Other Words - Read KL Sept14 (1)TE In Other Words - Read KL Sept14 (3)I made this bookmark for my niece’s birthday using the gorgeous “In Other Words – Read” (TE) and 2 dies from TE … “Mark Your Spot bookmark” and “Silhouette Stems 4”. I also used the SU! “Pinking Hearts border punch” (ret.) on the DSP at the bottom of the bookmark. The stamped image is coloured with blendies … not sure about the choices … but I only have 6 sets to choose from.

Will be back with more asap! Hugs xxx

Handmade Wedding Gift Bag

Josh & Elyse Gift Bag Oct14 (7)Hi friends!

Our trip to Brisbane last weekend was so we could attend my nephew’s wedding. It was a lovely wedding … very elegant and happy! It was great to catch up with my younger sister and her family.  We also spent a couple of nights with Gav’s sister and her family. With a 15 hour trip each way with 4 of our 5 kids (+ 2 hubbies) … it sure was a family filled weekend. What a blessing!

Josh & Elyse Gift Bag Oct14 (4)Josh & Elyse Gift Bag Oct14 (6)Our NSW family all put together to purchase an IKEA voucher for Josh & Elyse. Sheree had suggested this idea after she and Murray had received the voucher from Muz’s family at their wedding. They were thrilled … because they were able to set up their unit so nicely after they got married. I collected wedding cards from all those who contributed and made this pretty bag to hold all the cards and the gift voucher. The inspiration for this bag came from a card I had pinned on Pinterest and created by Annette Stewart. I used some gold and silver cord as the strings … on the original card these are hand drawn.

J&E Oct14 (1)I also created a tag with the names of all those who contributed on the back side. I did have fun creating this special event gift bag! You will remember I showed you the wedding card that I made for Josh and Elyse … a little while ago. It is always nice to play with something pretty. I am a little over male cards at the moment. Sweet Pressed Cookie Stamps

Christmas Cookies (3)Hello Bloggies!

I usually make some sweet goodies as gifts for the staff in the school office each year. But … I was a little pressed for time this year … so my usual fudge making day had to be canned … and instead I baked some cookies!

Christmas Cookies (2)What made them that bit more special  was that I used the fabulous Sweet Pressed Cookie Stamps to decorate them. Such a fab idea … and made in super quick time. The recipe only took 12 mins to bake. I sprinkled some Cinnamon Sugar over the top for a bit more “sugar & spice”.

Christmas Cookies (1)Christmas Cookies (4)Stampin’ Up! made it super easy for me this year … with a wonderful gift packaging set in the Holiday Catalogue designed especially for these yummy cookies. It is called “Season of Sweets Designer Kit” … and so I bought 2 packs … anticipating that I would need a few. They came together so quickly and made a simple cookie look really special. Perfect for that little thank you gift! 🙂

Christmas Cookies (5)So … with such a lack of time this year (because of the wedding) … I felt quite satisfied that I still managed some hand baked & hand crafted gifts. The kits are only available until 31 Jan. I know I sound like a SU! demo (habit) … but these are so fabulous. I think I might buy some more for next Christmas! Oh … YES! … Leonie – this is yours. There are still 3 sitting on my desk. I hadn’t managed to find the time to deliver. So … they are probably stale by now … but at least you know the thought was there! (Same for Jenny & Tracey!) 🙄 😉 😀

Bookwork catch up tomorrow. Bree is at her other nanny’s … as she was here on Wednesday instead. I also still have to strip the Christmas tree. Got sidetracked yesterday editing 2 1/2 years of photos to print some out for the kids albums. Now I just need to get them printed! Busy Busy Busy … AGAIN! 😉

Stamping Play Day!

Hi bloggies!

Me & my stamping buddies get together every month for a stamping day. It is always a FAB time together … and gives me an excuse to stop in my busy week and actually stamp! It also gives me something to show YOU!!! 😀 (Lately … I have been scratching a bit … due to very little stamping time!) Anyway … one of my friends has purchased a wonderful tutorial from Deanna Tam … and we were trying out a couple of the designs … to see if they would be suitable as M&Ts for her next workshop. My buddy was a little stuck for ideas … and it was good to be able to help her plan her class! (Thanks Deanna … for the inspiration!) I will have to pop by and check out your project tutorials for myself!

This is a credit card size gift card holder and has a neat little inside pocket to enable the card to slide in and out easily. But … no card recipe today … I don’t have the details … and … it is Deanna’s tutorial … so if you want to know more … check out her 12 days of Christmas projects tutorial for purchase by PDF downloads! I made the birthday one … and then decided I would definitely have a use for one at Christmas tie … so quickly put another together! Yep! A great project for a class to create … and a great “upseller” … cos it uses punches … a Big Shot & Die & ribbons & embellies! I do hope my friend’s class girls liked this one! 🙂

I am off to take my mum out for lunch with a friend, too! (Bookwork will have to wait until tomorrow!) Another milestone … since Dad’s passing … their anniversary. It will be nice to share some time with her! Take care every one … and have a great day!

PS: Don’t forget my blog candy! And … please make sure you add all 3 requirements! I have had lots of nice comments … but only 2 so far that I can put into the draw for the Blog Candy! I do hope you might humour me … and play along!? xxxx

Julie’s Pocket Card

Hi bloggies!

I have had such a fun day with my 3 SU! buddies today! (Leonie, Jenny & Tracey) We had our monthly stamping day & we giggled, stamped, nibbled & shared lots of ideas. I have photographed the cards we made … but need to do some editing … so I will share them with you later! Here is another that Julie and I made last week at our play date! Julie found this design on the internet somewhere. (I think it was SCS?) So … it is not an original … but unfortunately I cannot pass on the credit … until I know who designed it??? So … if it was you …. or you know who it was … please let me know so I can give a link-back!

This is a fun design … and was super simple to make! I have created a little template so you can see how to do the corners of the front of the card.

I have stuck the decoration paper onto the inside of the card … but … if you wanted this to be a gift card holder … you would just need to glue around the bottom and up the sides … and this will leave plenty of room to pop a gift card into.

The front triangle sections are held in place by sticking the scallop circle piece to the front. (After you add the DSP decoration to these triangles.) You can see we used the new Framelits Dies “Labels Collection” to create the pop in card piece. I haven’t yet purchased these … but enjoyed playing with Julie’s! We had another play with Jenny’s Framelits today … and I can’t wait to show you the card we made with them!

The cupcake was coloured with my Prismas and blended with Gamsol. (Gamsol Magic technique on Splitcoaststampers.) It was Julie’s first play with the Prismas … and they do take a little getting used to. But … I think she quite enjoyed trying them out. A little Iridescent Ice embossing added a pretty sparkle to the birthday candle and sprinkles. Hope you enjoyed this one! 😀

Tomorrow is my first day of BREE-sitting … Stacey is very reluctantly going back to work tomorrow after finishing her maternity leave! I will be having Bree each Thursday & Friday (& Wednesday for the first couple of weeks.) Then Jono’s mum will be caring for Bree on Wednesday’s!  I am looking forward to it … but am also realistic. This will mean a couple of days with plenty of distractions! The best thing will be all the BRUDDLES!!! (Bree cuddles … in Lynda’s language!) Hope to see you soon. Hugs xxx
