Happiness is stamping with friends!

Avery Elle Storybook

Hi bloggies!

I have a sweet one to share with you today. I needed both a boy and a girl baby card so I made 3 – including a lemon for my stash to sell.

I have to acknowledge Sarah Gray (via Pinterest) for the inspiration for this card … although, my version is a little fussier than Sarah’s sweetie. Sometimes I do have a tendency to overdo a simple concept!

It is a beautiful sunshiny spring day and the two littlest granddaughters have had some lovely play time together outside today. It is such a treat to have time with them each week.

Kool Kat – Cowabunga Dude

Hi bloggies!

Cowabunga Dude! Isn’t this the cheekiest little cat! I love the expression of joy on his face and imagine this is how all the boys in my family felt when they were skiing in Canada earlier this year! (And how Sandy feels when he catches the perfect wave!) 😀

This is a pretty simple card. The image is coloured with Zig Clean Color Real Brush Markers and I added some clear Wink of Stella shimmer all over the top – yes – all over!! 😳 The Zigs react with the Wink of Stella to give a soft and sparkly watercolour look.

The front card panel is popped up with fun foam with some blue stripy paper to frame it. The sentiment is from a set that I have had in my stash for ages … no packaging … so no name … sorry!!

Eastern Medallion Love

Hello friends!

I must admit that this card today was one of those that I wasn’t 100% happy with but I wanted to share it because it is a little different to most of the cards I have shared lately. Yes! – no COPIC colouring anywhere! 😉

I needed to make an anniversary card and pulled out the sweet “Falling in Love” papers from SU! as a starting point. I also had a set of SU! thinlits that I bought around the same time but hadn’t used yet and thought it was about time I used them. And then… nothing! Zip! I just couldn’t get the Mojo flowing. So… out came the Distress oxides for some blending on the medallion! I don’t know why – but they seem to be my “GO TO” lately.

So my “LOVE” anniversary card finally came together with some pretty glimmer card and I finished it off with some Nuvo silver crystal drops. Somehow this was the perfect accent! 😀

Next time I have an hilarious cat card to share. 🙃😊

Until then… happy crafting!

Galaxy Background

Hi bloggies!

A few days ago I shared a card that was meant to be a “galaxy” background but didn’t quite make it … (you can see it HERE) … well – this is the card (above) I was planning to do originally!

This is my first attempt at a “galaxy” technique and I have to admit that I think there is room for improvement! 😉 I actually think this may be one technique that has a better result using the Tim Holtz Distress Inks (which I don’t own) rather than the DistressOxide inks that I used for this card. I am happy with the result but the DO inks create a softer more” chalky” look rather than a deep, dark night sky that can be achieved using the original Distress Inks or other similar dye inks. I think I might try it again sometime using some dye links with a nice intense black.

Anyway, I think this image is perfect for the card and helped to make the galaxy background work even though it wasn’t the best result. I did end up flicking some Finetec iridescent watercolour paints onto the card background. This is a really pretty metallic look paint that really adds some gorgeous sparkle and pearly colour. I think it actually lifted the look of the galaxy … what do you think?

Foiled Father’s Day card

Hi bloggies!

I had some fun recently trying out some foiling with my laminator. I only bought a cheap laminator from Office works and was pleasantly surprised at how well it works.

I have used the Stampin’ up! “Pattern Party Decorative Masks” – brick stencil with some Thermo Web Deco Foil Gel and randomly spread the gel over the stencil without taking it right to the edges to give an uneven brickwork look: This gel is like an adhesive for the foil and when it is put through the laminator the heat sets the foil onto the card. Magic! It is such a striking effect!

Love, love this stinkin’ cute dragon stamp from Whimsy Stamps called Bart Goes Golfing.  It was perfect for a Fathers Day card for my hubby’s Dad who loves to play golf. I had lots of fun creating this card and was thrilled with the end result.

Just wanted to share a little family excitement …. Sandy has been playing 1st grade soccer ⚽️ (ooops … “football”) for the Illawarra Premier League for the last two years and his team just scraped into the finals this year in 5th place. They have since played 3 elimination finals against the 4th, 2nd & 3rd placed teams and won! So … they are into the Grand Final on Sunday against all odds! 😀 They are completely the underdogs … but anything can happen. It certainly is a bit of a big deal with a grand final launch dinner last night with local media and a team briefing & lunch on Sunday at the sponsor club and even a team bus to take them to the game! Win or lose … there will also be a family & friends & team dinner at the club on Sunday night. We are excited for Sandy (no. 11) … the youngest on the team … and it is a thrill to see him enjoying his football so much! ⚫️ #weare black ⚪️ #wearewhite #PKFC  … Port Kembla FC

These photos were taken at last week’s preliminary final … for a place in the grand final! Yay!

Hope you have a wonderful day.

Happy Hedgehogs & Balloons

Hi blog friends!

I hope you have been enjoying my recent posts with some of my recent creations. It has been fun playing with some new goodies lately. I am trying to find some time to do some blog hopping and catch up with some long time blog friends but at the end of each day I have to SIGH and say “maybe tomorrow”?? Such is life at the moment!

My card today is not actually a card but is a sign. After a long time resisting requests from my DH, I finally gave him a stack of handmade cards to sell in two of the pharmacies that he works at. He suggested I make up a sign to display with them because he thinks my cards look like” bought” cards and he wants customers to know they are actually handmade!!! Isn’t he just the cutest?! And always so encouraging! Anyway… this is the “sign” I came up with…

This was very simple copic colouring on die cut letters with some glossy accents over the top. DH thought it was great! My no. 2 fan! (No. 1 is my blog friend Lynda who never fails to encourage and has done so for many years!) Shout out to Lynda! 😃👏🏼👋

Bubble Chicks

Hi bloggies!

Here is the 3rd of 3 background experiments that I tried recently using my distress oxide inks. This was supposed to be a galaxy background… BUT … I made a mistake of wetting the sponged ink background with shimmer spray instead of just water!! The colours merged beautifully with this gorgeous sparkly shimmer on top and I just couldn’t bring myself to sponge black ink over the top! The galaxy background will have to wait until another day!

How super cute is this stamp set?! I had a quick look around online for a COPIC tutorial for colouring bubbles and was pretty happy with the result. A bit of Wink of Stella helps them to sparkle and look really pretty.

It is a little hard to see the background under the acetate window … but … trust me … it is super gorgeous! 😉

Tiny Townies Mermaid

I have enjoyed a couple of Saturdays up at Robertson recently at Mel’s Camp Papercraft. Last month my sis came with me and we played with my Distress oxide Inks. She loved them so much she bought some of her own! My last post was the 1st of 3 Distress oxide backgrounds that we tried…..

Today’s is the second ……

I have sponged some inks onto white card then used some shimmer spray to spritz all over a wave stencil and then pressed the wet side of the stencil down onto the card. The Distress Oxide ink reacts with the water and a shimmer impression of the stencil is left. (You can use ordinary water if you don’t want the shimmer look.) I loved this effect and will be trying it again for sure!

Once I had created this background I knew I had to use my new mermaid stamp set to finish off the card. I had lots of fun colouring these images and was really happy with the finished card.
