I have to admit … this stamp set is one of my favourite for making encouragement cards. I hope you like today’s post!
I just had to send this card out today … a sad occasion … but I had made this a few weeks ago for my stash and was glad today to have it ready to use.
I love this technique of watercolouring onto dark card with metallic watercolour paints. It is soooo pretty. The image is stamped with versamark and heat embossed with silver embossing powder. The sentiment was die cut from foil card and I layered it for thickness with 3 more dies cut from white card.
Sorry to rush … but I have a frantic week ahead!
I hope you don’t mind if I just share some pics today …
Just a couple of comments …
I was trying some foiling (I am on my “learners”!) and used a very intricate stencil. There were a few flaws but because I had used some “watercolour” type foil I actually thought the combination gave a shabby chic look so I die cut the best of the foiling and managed to salvage it for this card.
I also tried some “no line” copic colouring … using a sand coloured momento ink instead of black. This gives a lovely soft look to the image … but I feel I need some practice colouring with DARK copics for this technique. It was tricky to get definition to the image.
But … in the end … the card was very pretty and I was semi-pleased with this attempt at 2 new techniques!
Hope you get to stamp today!
I thought I might as well share the other sympathy card that I made recently. (You can see my other one in my previous post). This inspiration for this card came from a Simon Says Stamp Flickr challenge via Pinterest. I have not done a challenge in months and months … perhaps it is time to investigate some new ones?? (Although, I do have some favourites ones that I would love to revisit too!)
I have done a watercolour wash on watercolour card for the background. I have also used the same stamp set as for the previous sympathy card with a completely different look. I am loving this stamp set “Spring Blossoms” … it is so versatile and I have already used it a few times. For the second sample I used my ‘old faithful’ Stampin’ Up! “Lovely as a Tree”. I also have a new sentiment set with matching ‘prayers’ die which I think will be a really handy addition to my stash. Oh dear! Simon Says Stamp is a terrible discovery!!! I have far too much on my wish list from watching inspirational videos from some of their designers.
The prayers die has some GOLD Wink of Stella shimmer on the top and I have added some a thin edge of gold glimmer card, some fine gold thread and scattered a few gold gems for a bit of extra wow. I also flicked a bit of black ink over the wash for a little more impact. I was pretty tickled with the result … but have to give the credit to Rosemary for the inspiration.
Well … I must admit that I am enjoying my card making again! I am just so short on time and have so many ideas saved to try that it is a little frustrating … but it is fun to be experimenting with some new techniques and playing with some new goodies. I hope you are enjoying the results! Until next time … sending hugs xxx

Simon Says Stamp – Spring Blossoms
Hero Arts – Prayers
Stampin’ Up! – Lovely as a Tree
A couple of weeks before the holidays I found myself with a little free time to have a bit of a play in my craft room. This was the result … (2 of each!) …
You have already seen the wedding card (back left) … but … today I thought I would share a card that I recently sent to my sister in Q’ld to let her know that we were thinking of her. She and her family are in the middle of a stressful time supporting family members through serious illnesses. I hope this was a little happy mail to spread a little sunshine during some dark days.
I have used some watercolour paints (acrylic) and painted them across some SU! white shimmer card. The effect was kind of lovely! Shimmery but simple.
