Happiness is stamping with friends!

Mother’s Day Floral Shaker

Mothers Day 2Hi again!

So much to share … so little time! Sometimes it doesn’t matter how much effort you put into a card … it just doesn’t translate the way you have in your mind. But … then there are other times when everything seems to fall into place and the result is more than pleasing! This card made me happy! 😀

Mothers Day 1

I always love playing with this stamp set. And … of course, the matching dies make it so easy to pull a card together more quickly. This did take some time to do the COPIC colouring … I was doing enough for two cards … but the result was worth it. Some ‘wink of stellar’ sparkle was the perfect finish. My two mums loved their mother’s day cards. 🙂

Sorry the photos are a little dark. The Windows update to photo editing just isn’t as good as the previous version. I was so used to the old one! Hugs xx

Spring Flowers

Hi bloggies!

I love how vibrant the colours are on this card. I have done some watercolouring over a clear embossed image. I made sure the card was quite wet to allow the paint to flow into the sections of each image.

More Sympathy Inspiration

Hero Arts Prayers SSS Apr16 (7)

Hi again!

I thought I might as well share the other sympathy card that I made recently. (You can see my other one in my previous post). This inspiration for this card came from a Simon Says Stamp Flickr challenge via Pinterest. I have not done a challenge in months and months … perhaps it is time to investigate some new ones?? (Although, I do have some favourites ones that I would love to revisit too!)

Hero Arts Prayers SSS Apr16 (2)

I have done a watercolour wash on watercolour card for the background. I have also used the same stamp set as for the previous sympathy card with a completely different look. I am loving this stamp set “Spring Blossoms” … it is so versatile and I have already used it a few times. For the second sample I used my ‘old faithful’ Stampin’ Up! “Lovely as a Tree”. I also have a new sentiment set with matching ‘prayers’ die which I think will be a really handy addition to my stash. Oh dear! Simon Says Stamp is a terrible discovery!!! I have far too much on my wish list from watching inspirational videos from some of their designers.

The prayers die has some GOLD Wink of Stella shimmer on the top and I have added some a thin edge of gold glimmer card, some fine gold thread and scattered a few gold gems for a bit of extra wow. I also flicked a bit of black ink over the wash for a little more impact. I was pretty tickled with the result … but have to give the credit to Rosemary for the inspiration.

Well … I must admit that I am enjoying my card making again! I am just so short on time and have so many ideas saved to try that it is a little frustrating … but it is fun to be experimenting with some new techniques and playing with some new goodies. I hope you are enjoying the results! Until next time … sending hugs xxx

A sympathy card with love

Spring Blossoms Apr16 SSS (9)Hi blog friends!

I am back from my travels with Gav’s family! We had a WONDERFUL time in Asia cruising on the BRAND NEW Ovation of the Seas on her MAIDEN voyage! What a stunning ship! Our balcony cabin was sooo gorgeous and comfortable. They have definitely ‘upped’ the wow factor both in the cabins and over all the ship. Wow! We were very impressed. Yes … we had a few queues from time to time … a few hiccups that I am sure are just teething problems and will be sorted quickly (after all – there were over 4,500 people on board!)  … but really I cannot commend Royal Caribbean enough for making our holiday so very special. It was amazing. I was so pleasantly surprised how much I did enjoy visiting some of the Asian cities too! After being a little apprehensive, I was absolutely fascinated with the history and the culture and some of the cities were simply beautiful. Lots of greenery and very clean. At other times the poverty was quite obvious and saddened me … but the smiles on the peoples faces showed that they were content and happy! I am keen to return which is a total surprise to me to find myself saying that! 🙂

While we were away … my dear brother in law lost his sister to cancer. It was a long, brave battle and not an unexpected outcome but still very sad for him and for my sister and the wider family. I had actually made a couple of sympathy cards in anticipation before I left for our holiday and we heard the news when we were in Vietnam. I am sending out hugs with this post for my dear family who are grieving at this time.

Just before we left my dear hubby’s uncle also passed away after a struggle with cancer and Gav was able to travel up to Q’ld with Skye & Shane to attend his funeral. It was another sad occasion. Life can sometimes be hard! I made two of each of a few different sympathy cards which went to different members of both the affected families.

I was actually quite happy with this card. It is probably one of my most satisfying results in a long time. Of course … the inspiration was from a old/new favourite … Laura Bassen. Old – I have been a fan of Laura for years + New – have recently been following her creations for SSS and been totally smitten again! 😀

The colouring is done with COPICs and each of the petals and leaves have some added clear Wink of Stella for subtle shimmer. I fussy cut every one of the flowers and leaves (X2)!!! And … later they released a matching die set … which I am now in possession of!!! 😉
