Happiness is stamping with friends!

Just to keep you going ………

Hi bloggies!

Ok … this is getting ridiculous! Blog time is just non-existent at the moment! 😦 I have one last card sitting in my file … WITH a card recipe already prepared … so I am going to share that with you today. BUT … it is Saturday … and after a busy, busy week … I am determined to have a relax day today … and do some stamping and prepare some card recipes so I have something more to show you! So … remember … this is scraping the bottom of the barrel! 😉

I am so keen to actually STAMP … that I won’t waste time waffling on. There is so much to tell you about life @ the Lowcocks … so perhaps it is better not to start … and let you breathe a sigh of relief … and I’ll get to my stamping. I am kinda thankful that the card / paper hasn’t arrived for the wedding invites yet … or I would feel that I had to start those … BUT … I have a free day … and I plan to make the most of it! I am NOT going to watch the boys play soccer today!!! 😉 I have better things to do!!! 😀 😀

Another 50th!

Hi bloggies!

Thanks for sticking with me lately … when I have been a bit here & there with posts! I am gradually catching up on my bookwork (after the computer crash) … but family life is also a tad busy. Sheree started her new job today … at our local Christian school … teaching YR 1. I have been helping her set up her classroom … laminating & cutting bright items to display (ie. birthday lists … word garden (100 flowers with frequently used words) … ‘wow wall’ & stars … etc etc) We also spent yesterday morning at the movies … to share some time together before she goes out into the big wide world! (As much as a small local school can be!) We saw The Descendents. I really liked it … Sheree thought it was good … Skye wasn’t impressed at all! And … it is a sad movie … so if you aren’t in the mood … then I guess you might find it a bit depressing. Anyway … here is my card for today.

This card was created with much love for my brother-in-law’s 50th birthday which is today!!! Happy Birthday, Scott!!! Hope it is a really special day for a really special guy! I do hope his card arrived on time! Snail mail is not always super reliable! I hope Scott also enjoys planning for his big walk in Tasmania next January!

I thought I would share an idea that I found on Paula’s blog a couple of months ago. I have created some acetate masks to use for sponging clouds & mountains/sea. So easy to pull these out when I need them … rather than having to make a new mask each time. Looking at Paula’s again … I think I need to tweak these a little to be more defined … but I did use them on today’s card … as is. (Please ignore the white spots! Just some left over sticky stuff!) 😀

Well … I had better get moving. Gav & I are off to a wedding tomorrow and we need to run up to Sydney this afternoon to check the park … and go to the rehearsal at the church. (Gavin is taking the photos.) It is Jono’s (son-i-l) sister who is getting married. Gav is rather nervous … cos it is 5 years since he has done a wedding. Hope it all comes back to him! I am happy … cos I found a really pretty dress to wear! (It’s a long time since I felt pretty in anything!) Yay! for the January sales!!! 😉 Hugs xxx

Gavin’s 50th

Hi Bloggies!

Well … it is kinda bittersweet to have another birthday … cos Gav has hit the big “5” “0”!!! 🙂 My gift to Gav was money to buy a surfboard … and my wider family put together to buy a “steamer” (wet suit) … so he is all set to go surfing with Skye & Sandy!

If you would like a “visual” of how I created the background for this card … here it is! I have included details about the sponging on my card recipe. It looks impressive … but it really is quite easy! The sun was created with a circle mask with a torn “bottom”.

So … my birthday card was appropriate for his gifts … and I did enjoy having an idea to work with! After I took the photos of this card … I did add a black “50”  in the bottom right corner. It will be nice to sit on the beach and watch him enjoy his pressies! An enforced break from his busy life!  Well … can’t linger! Stuff to do! We are going out tonight to the Steakhouse for Gav’s birthday … so that will be a nice night out! (All the kids & Bree!) C U soon! Hugs xx

A Quick One!

Hi bloggies!

By the time you read this … I will be away for the weekend. I did want to leave a “little something” for you … to keep you going over the weekend! So … this will just be a quick one! This card is for the latest “Hand Stamped Sentiments” Challenge #83 … which was to create a CLEAN & SIMPLE card. I decided to take the image that was given as a starting point for my inspiration … and I used some of the colours I could see in the image.

I sooo love this sail boat … there is something about it … that makes it so easy to make a WOW card. The detail is just divine. For the record … I was NOT covering an “ooops” with the Soft Suede card piece. This was actually a “take” on an OLD Clean & Simple sketch (FTL106) … and was part of the sketch!!! 😉

This was my 2nd attempt for this challenge … because my first one didn’t end up being quite so “Clean & Simple” … and so I will post that sometime soon in another post. Sneak peek –> I am reasonably happy with this CAS card … although … I do feel it is a little “unbalanced” and I wish I had sponged the SS card piece???? But … I am happy because there is a little bit of brain work happening … so that is a good sign! 😉 😀 Hugs xxaxx

Another CAS card!

Hi bloggies!

I am desperate to find some time to stamp … because here I am with the “bottom of the barrel” for my cards! Nothing left to show you after this one. So … I hope I can do some stamping soon. This is another of the recent Clean & Simple sketches and a colour combination that was suggested by the SU! Colour Coach. Yes … tired brain … means look for help for ideas! And … if in doubt … CASE! Well … this is not a CASE … but … I’m thankful for the C&S sketch idea & Colour Coach Combo!

And … another “Bliss” card … how can I go wrong!?? 😉 I love, love, love this set! So … a quick update … poor sis & her dh had another funeral today … for his 95 yr old grandad! I managed to get along for the service … and then ran back to mum’s to wait for the doctor to arrive (morning visit had been pushed back to lunchtime visit) … and here it is now … nearly 4pm and he hasn’t come yet. So … even though mum is home from the hospital … we are still waiting to see doctors!!! 😯 But … I am happy to report that after 10 days of being at home … mum is finally starting to feel a little brighter. Her appetite is returning … the “gloominess” is lifting … and although we won’t know for months if this treatment is completely working … she does seem to be coping a lot better. I hope by this time next week … we might be able to start weaning mum off full time care. After she sees the specialist … she may be able to get rid of the walking frame … and manage with a stick. This should mean she will be able to do a little more for herself. Well … time to keep moving … I have the morning off “mum-sitting” for a brunch date that Stacey had organised several weeks ago. The girls and I are meeting Stacey’s best friend, Sis & Mum at the Cliffhangar restaurant … where we had Stace’s baby shower! Thanks so much to my loyal blog buddies for keeping my spirits up with your lovely comments! 😀 Hugs xxaxx

CASE Showcase #5 – Judy May

Don’t you find sometimes a card catches your eye instantly … and you just love it to bits??? This is one of those cards! I am sure this would look great in other colour combos … but I really think that the “black/white/red” combo is the thing that makes this a standout card! Today’s CASE Showcase card is created by the wonderfully talented Judy May. One benefit of going through my “to CASE” file for this showcase … is that I have rediscovered some blogs that I had not visited in a while. And … I have bookmarked a couple to remind me! Judy’s is one I want to pop by again … once I get back from hols! Here is Judy’s original

And … mine …

I didn’t want to change this card too much … it just seemed beautiful the way it was. I don’t have the Bella Toile background stamp … but I do think the Friendly Words Jumbo Wheel stamp was a really great substitute! Thanks, Judy for your gorgeous inspiration … I really enjoyed CASEing this card!

Friday today! And … if things go as planned … Stacey & Jono & little Bree have arrived down the coast to spend a couple of days with us. It will be nice to share some “down time” with them after all the busy-ness they have had looking at rentals. I am sure I will have lots of cuddles over the next couple of days. Have a nice weekend! Hugs xxaxx

Cupcake Invitations

Hi girls!

I am feeling a little weary this morning … a nice coffee with my mum at the shops might be just the “pick me up” that I need! 😉 Here is a little sample I had filed that I created for the Cupcake stall at the school Country Fair in March. I thought I would quickly share it with you …

These were pretty quick and easy … and make a great gift idea! Our Everything Cupcake Stall was a HUGE hit at the fair … and took in the most profit for the day. But … there were two very talented and lovely ladies who spent hours creating hand made items for the stall … so they deserved the result! Gotta run … have an order to put in … and off with mum to the shops! Then I might finish that ALBUM!!!!!!!! 😀 Have a lovely day. Stampin’ Hugs, Andrea xxx
