The Paper Players Challenge #51

Hello bloggies!

You may remember the dramatic story I told you about Bree’s blood tests (scroll to almost end of post) that were taken the day after my dad died??? Well … even though the paediatrician was “happy” with the last results … he has asked that these tests be repeated 2 weeks later … just to be sure that the levels are okay. So … it is with fear & trepidation … that Stacey & I are off to the pathology collection place with Bree this morning! The GP has assured Stace that they will not need as much blood this time … but even 1 ml was stressful last time … so we are not looking forward to this outing! I do hope this won’t be as traumatic as last time!!! 😯 Anyway … I saw this challenge over on Sandra’s blog recently … and just new I wanted to try these bright colours! Here is my challenge card for this colour combo …

Well … I have splashed lotsa colour on this one. I hope I haven’t overdone it!!??? 😉 The background is brayered using the 3 colours from the challenge. The tulips & flower border were inked using markers to rubber. I hope you can see the gorgeous sparkle that I have added to each of the flowers. I just LOVE Dazzling Diamonds. A really quick and easy card … and such a bright, happy combination!

Well … I had better fly … have to get going to Stacey’s! Hope to be back to do some blog hopping this afternoon. Have a happy day! Hugs xxaxx

INK4U! Colour Challenge

Hi there friends!

I am still feeling a little under the weather today. I had decided that stamping must be good for the health … because by Saturday afternoon I was feeling so much better … but then today … I am back to 1st base! Actually … I think it might even be worse! 😦 But … what better therapy for the ills and chills of the first Autumn flu … than to do some blog hopping. I have had a lovely morning relaxing in front of my computer … and for once it has been behaving! 😯 After coming across my “Tri-fold Card” that I featured for my “EnchantINK Memories” a few days ago … (You can see the link in my side bar … I will leave it there for a couple more days!) … I had an urge to do another. So … I teamed this design with one of the lovely Colour Challenges that we enjoyed over at INK4U! this week. Here is my card …

This card is super quick and easy. You just need to visualise a diagonal slope along the top of the card … and stamp your images along this imaginary line … then cut around the top of the images. All the images for this card were stamped using Markers to rubber to get the multi-coloured images.

>>>>>>>>

>>>>>>>>

>>>>>>>>

You will also notice … when you close the card you can see the back of the centre piece of the card peeping above the front section. I have stamped an extra couple of images onto this “back side” of the card … just so there isn’t a blank white space there! You just need to position these images to kinda fit the cut edge! But … you don’t need to be too fussy! 😀

>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>

>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>

I have one last pic to share. This is the sweet card that Gabbi sent to me for my b’day. Thanks Gabbi for remembering and taking the time to send some special b’day wishes! I am always touched when someone does that for me! 😀 Hope you are all having a great day! I hope to be back tomorrow with more … just depends if I can get rid of this nagging fluey thing! 🙂 C U all soon! Hugs xxaxx

Ooooh! I’ve gotta be quick!

Hello everyone!

Even though it is holidays … it is still FAR TOO BUSY!!! (Does anyone else find that???) I am off to visit Grandy with the kids … and their cousins & aunt. It is always a lovely day out … but … just at the moment … I would rather be STAMPING!!! Being the “unselfish” person that I am … I will do the holiday thing with the kids … and just pretend that I will actually find time to stamp today! I know … I know … I really shouldn’t complain after the wonderfully relaxing two weeks I have just had. (Feel free to smack me!) It just feels a distant memory already!!! 😉 😀

I remembered that I hadn’t shared the 2nd project from my last stamp club class … PHEW! … I have something to show you!!! 😀 You will remember that we did the polished stone technique … so … here is the 2nd sample …

I just love this stamp set … it is fab for silhouette type stamping … but I am afraid it might not make it to the next catty. I don’t think I will be able to part with it, though … those tulips are just too gorgeous! I have added a quick ‘polished stone’ tutorial on my card recipe … I hope you can try it for yourself. A little hint … I find it works much better on glossy card stock … the colour “bleeds” better than on plain cardstock.  You can see that this technique is slightly different than the 1st sample. Instead of putting drops of ink for all 3 colours onto the same cotton ball … I used a separate cotton ball for each colour and daubed them in sections. Just a different spin on a lovely technique! Well … I have to fly! C U Soon! Stampin’ Hugs xxx

Downright URRGGLLYY!!!

Hi guys!!!

Yes! SIGH!!! 🙄 I am posting a card today that I think is DOWNRIGHT UGLY!!! 😯 I can’t even imagine what is possessing me to post this … except that it WILL keep me HUMBLE!!! 🙄 This was a card that I created for my Technique Class for TWILIGHT STAMP CLUB last month … BUT … needless to say … this technique GOT THE FLICK … and I did the Bleached Out Images instead. (And … didn’t that turn out to be a GREAT choice???!!! 🙄  NOT!!! 😉 ) So … I really have to come up with something FABBO for the next class!!!! Otherwise my girls will be deserting me in droves!!!! 😯

Anyway … here is the first of my “Faux Mosaic” cards … I call this one my “Faux Punched Mosaic” sample …

Hhhmmm … it looks even worse in the flesh … believe me!!!! 😀 So … I decided to give this another go … to see if I could improve on it. Who was I kidding??? 🙄 😉

I tried the original idea from SCS called “Faux Torn Mosaic” … and this one is actually HALF passable! I like the colours and the layout on this one … but still not convinced about the mosaic look!!! I guess this one is OK!!! 🙂

So … would you come to another technique class if that is what you were getting??? LOL! 😀 Isn’t it good to be able to LAUGH at ourselves … when we create a DUD!!! (or 2!!!)

I am going to challenge all my blog friends to post a DUD card on your blog!!! See how many of you are brave enough to do it! Make sure you let me know (leave a comment with a link) … so I can go and check them out! I need a good giggle!!! And … perhaps I will award the winner of the URRGGLLIEST card a prize of both of these two samples!!! LOL!!! ROFL!!! 😉

Hope you are having a good day! I spent it doing “bookwork” … and catching up. Did I actually catch up???? Noooooooooo!!!!! Will I ever???? I think not!!! 😉 Stamping Hugs xxx

Whimsical

Hello everyone!

I always seem to be rushing off to do something!!! I am a day late starting the newsletter … because of the public holiday yesterday … so gotta get this post done really quickly! 😀 I clicked on the Pals Paper Arts blog a few days ago … and loved the idea of the latest “KISS”  (Keep it Simple Sweetie) challenge PPA39

>>>>

>>>>

>>>>

>>>>

 ……………………….

  • Clean, with lots of “white” space
  • Simple Designs
  • Minimum time to create
  • Limited layers and embellishments
  • So … team that with a CAS#85 (Clean & Simple) Sketch (above) … and you have a super quick … but super WOW! card! 😀

This is one you can whip up in ten minutes. I did “stamp off” the Pacific Point (yes! you did read that right!) & Rich Razzleberry images so they were a softer colour to match the soft Pink Pirouette. The rest is totally self-explanatory … but all the details are on the card recipe below. The colour combo was courtesy of Sarah Gough who did a card recently using these colours and I tucked it away in my little brain to remember! I love visiting Sarah’s blog for inspiration! Why don’t you pop by sometime soon?

Gotta run! C YA! Stampin’ Hugs xxx

    Bizzy Becs Creatalicious Challenge #3

Hello! It has been EONS since I have done a challenge … and I totally missed the Bizzy Becs #2 (the colour combo was gorgeous!) … so I was determined to get their no. 3 challenge done. This challenge asks for 1. Scraps of DSP; 2. New cardstock;  3. Handmade (self made) flowers. So … this is what I came up with …

    ___________________________________________

    Bizzy Becs #3

I actually started with my flowers … I went to my ribbon basket … and chose some of my pretty Ribbon Originals ribbons that seemed to combine together well. Then I went to my scraps of DSP to find some that coordinated with the ribbons I had chosen. The back ground card colours came from the papers … but instead of Basic Grey (which is a colour in the “Afternoon Tea” papers I chose) … I used Silver metallic instead. I just felt this was a little softer. And … it matched well with the rhinestone brads that I had used as centres on the flowers. The Pink Pirouette & Regal Rose card were both colours in the Sweet Always Papers and I also used a scrap of Pink Pirouette Patterns DSP as well. My main image was inked with markers to pick up the colours from the DSP – Pretty in Pink, Certainly Celery, So Saffron … and a touch of Regal Rose.

Bizzy Becs #3 zSo … this turned out quite pretty … don’t you think!? I remembered to use one of my gorgeous “build a brad”s as the centre of the flower on the right! It looks great with the Afternoon Tea DSP as the insert. I can hear Lynda saying “not pink again”!!! But … I had to work with the ribbon colours that I had in my basket! I need to get my swaps finished for Ness’ training tonight … so better keep moving! Have a great day!

    Delicious Diva Sketch Challenge #2

    Hi everyone

    DDSC2 Diva

How simple is this … but I love it!!! Love the colours … love the layout (courtesy of Delicious Divas) … and was so happy to pull my Garden Whimsy stamp set out again … and have a play!!! (Is it ok to pat myself on the back … like that??? 😀 😉 ) So … like I mentioned … this card was based on the latest Delicious Divas challenge …

Such a cute, simple … but gorgeous sketch … don’t you think??? Why don’t you have a try and submit an entry to Delicious Divas … or send a pic to me and I will post it here???

DDSC2 Diva zI am still a bit of a chicken when it comes to cutting out ovals. I do have a cutter … but so far I haven’t mastered it completely … so … I have cut an oval mask and used that instead! I stuck the mask to the white card using some Dotto to hold it in place. (Just love that Dotto!!!) All the main images (except the phrase & the garden leaves) are “stamped off” … onto scrap paper before stamping onto the card. I love the softer effect … particularly for stamping another image over the top. Hope this inspires you today!!! Happy Stamping!
